Title: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on June 04, 2016, 10:26:03 AM
I recorded six designs back in Dec for the new channel and we struggled with the set up, lights, backdrop, shadow etc
and then when we filmed the lights in the room reflected of my glass's and Geoff said it was a distraction.

Now for six months I have been meaning to re-make them, well today I am, it's all set up down stairs so I'm just
off to record,

1, Hippo
2, Rhino
3, Wobbly flower
4, Snake
5, Sword
6, Parrot

All a little different to what I have seen on youtube but no doubt possibly there somewhere,
to be honest it's not a place I usually visit to look at balloon designs.

After these I'm not sure what we will record, possibly a selection off the DVD's.
A selection of my favourite designs or the model of the months so that they are available as PDF as
on the site and also on video for those who prefer.

Off to record, see you soon....................hopefully.

I'm just doing some one balloon designs to start with Darren,
hopefully a little different to all the other designs out there at the moment.

I allowed myself three hours to film six 3/4 minute designs.
I managed to record ten, so four extra,

7, Shield
8, Space Gun
9, Dolphin
10, Fish

The Dolphin and Fish I re-designed as well, I think the Dolphin was filmed the fourth time around but
considering I only came up with the design 10 minutes before I started filming I think it all worked OK.

The set up I finally went with, we did try moving into another room with dark curtains behind etc
but went back to the normal set up for the front room tapes with a floodlight on the floor to try
and take away the shadow on the wall behind.

Yes, it was meant to be from the beginning of the year but sometimes I'm a little slow.
I have to take them down to Lord G who will be adding the graphics and intro/outro.
So hopefully by the end of the month. I hope to get 26 up this year and then one every two weeks from next year.

I'm stating off with a few basic designs first and then building up.

That's great news Graham, I am sure it will work out well for you, You have a great way of explaining instructions to people!!

I will pop onto YouTube and have a look when you put them up, and add my support of course!! :)

Good luck with it all. ;)

Lord G has the recorded disk and the intro and outro are all sorted,
this is one of the first designs that I have filmed the instructions for.
My one balloon rhino that uses more than one balloon, it keeps me happy.

There is an interview with Ken Stillman that I did for balloon click a few years back that has a

We have had over 400 views now which I'm rather pleased with, I will win a £1 from my grandson if it reaches 500
by Monday morning. I did notice someone has hit the thumbs down on the clip though, I wonder why?

I wouldn't worry about getting any thumb down, you always get them with anything Graham, you can't please all the people all the time.

Nice to see you are nearly at 500 views, that is pretty good :D

Still only one balloon models,

Swan
Dave
Rabbit
Dog, ears.
Bike
Dinosaur
Teddy
Sausage Dog, new.
Pony
Machine gun

I think the one balloon machine gun is a killer, see what I did there? He He.

I will be putting up one tutorial a week so by my reckoning that will take us up to the new year.

Well I think I need to learn to count. There I was at 3.30 all happy as I thought I had made 10 tutorials.
Went to take a few pictures and could only see nine...............oops. I forgot to do the Rabbit,
so at 4.30 I had to re-set and got it done in one take, the light was not too bright and I think
you can see the back light shinning up, but then it's not a professional set up.........that's for sure, he he.

You can see by the picture we did not get this filmed with all one takes.

Quote from: "Kenny"Great vids Graham. I have been making that sword for years.
Did I show you the sword when you were over Kenny?
A few of the designs are many years old, the swan is fairly new and the one balloon machine gun
I made when I was at eurojam convention possibly 3 years ago. The snake is a couple of months old
and the rhino I think was after the Bishops Stortford day in January.

Come to think of it some are old and some fairly new :)
You can see I'm rather decisive there, he he.

I may have done, It's been so long since i was over i can't remember :D .

I do tend to show a lot of things when i come over as i attend so rarely and i have so much to share. Anyway it's no big deal i am sure many people come up with the same designs in our balloon world. I do remember how i came up with it though, it was for Halloween and was trying to make a base for a small pumpkin for line work, i remember i got a lot of cheap led's to put inside each pumpkin. Anyway that's how i came up with that base, i remember making it and it looked like it would make a great sword, it's also a great base for a spiral sword as well. If you add a pinch twist  to each corner and make a few of them, then connect the pinch twists you can come up with some really cool designs!! ;)

I have just loaded up this weeks tutorial which is the one balloon parrot on a swing
but we have a slight problem............there is no sound.

So when I get home form a show I will have to take it down and put next weeks up.

Last weeks has 2 minutes at the end of a blank screen and this weeks no sound, double oops!!

So if you fancy making the parrot with me miming you have a few hours till I get home from my show.

I have taken the parrot down pro temp till we get the sound sorted out and replaced it with
the one balloon dolphin, I was going to use the one balloon space gun but that has over two
minutes at the end blank similar to the one we have on the shield.
So a couple of technical problems this week that I'm sure Lord G will sort out for us when
he gets back from his holiday.

I have just spent the last 2 days filming for BalloonTube.
I still struggle getting the light correct,
I keep getting reflections in my glass's and the light changes
but the lights stay in the same place, very odd.

So I have filmed 10 designs, 6 yesterday and 4 today.
They took 7 hours all together and will be coming out in the new year.

Next year it will be every other week, just so that I'm not too stressed with everything.

Getting ready tonight for some filming tomorrow. I have approx. 10 designs I wanted to film.
Just going through the designs and think............oh hang on how did I make that and then
having to look at my own instructions to jog my memory. Made me smile  :)

On the list are the one balloon Cat and Camel, Pikachu, Koala, Mickey Mouse Wand, Plane, Sea Turtle, Rabbit

then on the reserve list if filming goes well are the ride in Unicorn and a Crocodile.

I have decided to film the ride in horse and crocodile this morning as all the filming equipment is still out.
The crocodile I re-designed last night and fairly happy with it and the horse
I did a little last night and was getting there and this morning tweaked it a little.
Problem is I have 3/4 variations that I like with it but have decided to go for
more a basic look as some do mention my designs are not for the real world.
The ride in horse uses six balloons.

I did the horse in take one and also the crocodile but did not like the way the croc looked at the end so did version two.
It's 18 mins long and was done in one take, I was quite pleased with that.
I'm going to go and do the ride in horse again as I have another idea that might make it easier to all fit together.

Balloon Tube Sunday, Camel. I have no idea how I have subtitles on You Tube, but they can be funniest things to read. I'm sure however that Graham normally makes more sense than this! :D

You wont believe this BUT yes it is.......it's Sunday and it's BalloonTube Sunday.
So what's on offer for this week? It's a two balloon Pikachu, I thought I only
made this a couple of months back but it's actually a year old now and
has taken me this long to film and post for BalloonTube.

Hope it's of some use to a few, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp2hsEtWScA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp2hsEtWScA)

So the plan for tomorrow is to make a new set of tutorials for BalloonTube.
I have six planned and if all goes well I have a weaved flower love heart to make as well.

Playing about with the fox design.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 11, 2017, 06:43:10 PM
A few more of the designs.

Just refreshing my memory on the cat and working out the best way to make the two balloon shield.

I took out the pinch twists for the horse/pony reins, looks a little smoother.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 12, 2017, 08:05:35 AM
I was laying in bed thinking about the elephant design...............as you do!

And had another idea, will make and get another picture later.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube

Just off to set the front room up for the filming.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 12, 2017, 09:31:14 AM
I have put filming on hold today, struggled a bit setting up the lighting so there is no shadow.
I think that is sorted now but have a few orders and a large order to put away so will try again
on Saturday as at the moment only have an evening gig.

Trying to film mid-week with running the business is a bit of a challenge,
you'd have thought I would have realised that by now.................oops!
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 12, 2017, 11:24:25 AM
Lucky we did go for plan B earlier as one of the neighbours is having his tree cut down
and the noise two chain saws make is pretty loud.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 13, 2017, 08:43:10 AM
Adding to the heart weave, then taking a little away.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 14, 2017, 09:05:51 AM
So I had a thought about getting rid of the pinch twists.

It was a challenge weaving it like this, not sure I prefer it though.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 14, 2017, 09:08:09 AM
Then it was playing with the elephant time.................ohhhhh matron!!

Trying to take out the pinch twists by the trunk/head joint.
Put in the tulip/apple twist, the trunk has a lot of movement this way.

But then I wanted there to look like a mouth so added a pinch twist under the tulip/apple twist.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 15, 2017, 11:57:30 AM
I have just finished filming the six designs, it has taken three hours which is
about the average time. 30 mins per design.

The shield and cat were one take, the elephant an ear twist popped so we had to start again.
And something happened while starting to film the cat that has never happened before on camera...
I sneezed, so much useless information.

We then made the fox and horse in one take and then the last design the teddy............
that was 3/4 takes. I changed the construction so that it was easier to film as we have to
keep in shot the whole time and forgot half way through where I was and then we had a
complete unroll of the head section which was five bubbles, it was quite funny but we filmed it again.

Off to take a few pictures and then this afternoon I'm going to attempt making the love heart
before I go out for my evening show tonight along the river at Staines.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on July 15, 2017, 04:29:05 PM
So this afternoon it was the turn of the weaved flower heart to be filmed.
All was going OK and then I had an idea that made the centre section filler
a lot easier to explain so filmed version two all in one take.

There is quite a bit to film on this so very happy it was just one take.

After 3 hours of filming and then after 4 hours................and all done for the day.

Well of to do two hours of ballooning over in Staines now along the river.

It's Sunday, could it be? is it? Yes it's another BalloonTube Sunday.
This week we have the ride in horse for you to view. Hope it's of use to some and
if you do make it then pleas epost a picture here or even over on balloon chat.

On the tutorial I think I made the neck of the horse a little too long,
it was filmed a few months back now.

I have already filmed all the tutorials for the rest of the year so some are over six months
old when we come to publish them and you always see a tweek or two you might make
if filmed again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW-3bM66LYE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW-3bM66LYE)

There is good news and bad news, the good news is that tomorrow is BalloonTube Sunday.
The bad news is that from next year I will only be posting one design per month and
probably on the first Sunday. There will be 50 designs up by the New Year and it makes
things a little less stressful for me with coming up with designs and then getting
someone to edit the filming for me etc. Tomorrow I'm posting the Fox.

That is if all goes well, that will take me up till April next year.

Behind the scenes of BalloonTube when filming.

The second picture is the view that I get, the picture to the left of the camera I have to take
down otherwise the reflection appears in the Blue picture that is behind me when filming.

We have also worked our why there is a glow on the frame
of the Blue picture on nearly all the 41 tutorials filmed.

We have a small window next to the front door and the sun shines in and hits the side of the
double wall on the right of the first picture and then bounces onto the metal picture frame.

We always thought it was the way the light on the floor was positioned.

We filmed seven more designs on Sunday for BallloonTube,
Tank, Rabbit, Angel Wand, Owl, Racing Car, Crown and a Rocket.

The rocket idea came about form the Levett and Lee days with Thelma
where she made a rocket form a 646.

My rocket went through about 8 changes before I was happy to film it,
this is the thread where we went from A to B, rocket-t11147.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/rocket-t11147.html)

Day eight from BalloonTube,
I will be posting a balloon a day from BalloonTube right up till I think boxing day.
If anyone wanted to join in then you are more than welcome.
Here we go with day eight, the one balloon ray gun.

So a little secret about the ray gun, it's probably was the least of my
favourite designs that I have posted onto BalloonTube.
That was until yesterday when I tried to change things about
and moved the position of the handle, now why did I change
the handle position? If you make it you may work it out.

Then I saw a gun design by Danielle and that inspired me
to come up with another variation so the ray gun has gone
from possibly a filler design to a very usable design for the
real world.

Thanks to all those that have helped and influenced me with
balloon modelling over the years, it's much appreciated.

The gun on the right is the one explained,
see if you can change to make like the gun on
the left with the handle at the back of the gun.

Then using the chrome you can add the arm holder as well.

Many thanks to all those that made a few of the 57 designs along the way
over the past few weeks. It was very much appreciated and hope it did
help a few with developing their balloon modelling skills.

A special thanks goes to Danielle Burnige who kept going all 57
days and made every design, I was rather chuffed, thank you.
Also thanks to all those who commented, it was appreciated.

We did a little filming yesterday for some more tutorials that will go onto BalloonTube, the plan was to film four designs.
Motor Bike, Digger, Lizard and my Love Heart design, things went not to bad and
we also managed to film a Rose design made from 160's as well.

I will get some nice pictures today and post them later.
Title: Re: Balloon Tube

The designs I filmed this weekend for my BalloonTube Channel.
The Bike and the Lizard were both filmed in one take, we did have a couple of problems with
the Digger and that was a four take as we got a couple of pops...................oops!
Title: Re: Balloon Tube
Post by: Graham Lee on March 22, 2021, 09:41:25 AM
Then it was onto my heart design that I first made while jamming in America at the Twist and Shout convention
back in 2018 and then I added to the design in 2019 at the Florida Super jam.
You can see I'm really quick at getting the designs filmed and onto BalloonTube  ;) ;D

Some designs take years as in the case of the heart, and then when
filmed take a few more months before they go live.

The heart was filmed in one take but when I re watched explaining the design from a 350 as I showed two
variations it could have been a little clearer so I re-filmed that last section the next morning.

If you can re create the design and use then please do but it would be very much appreciated if you
could buy me a coffee or two as like with many others at the moment its been over a year since
we have been out working, these are the details for Buy Me A Coffee,

It was meant to be BalloonTube Sunday last week but we had a little problem with the editing and the
tutorial started half way through, oops. so we took it down and got it all sorted for a delayed start.

So today is BalloonTube Sunday instead and the tutorial is the line work 4 balloon Digger that I was
challenged to make back in September 2020, this is the thread if you'd like to see how it came
about and some variations on a theme, https://www.balloonchat.co.uk/picture-gallery/digger-11736/

Getting ready for some filming tomorrow as I have no more tutorials at the moment to post.
I have five designs ready to make, Train, Unicorn, Yoda, Panda and the Snake.
It will be a good days filming if we get all five recorded but I'd be happy with four.

I did some more filming over the weekend for the Panda, Unicorn and Baby Yoda as I was not happy with the filming of the other week.
Looking back the panda is better so will use that but as for the Unicorn and Baby Yoda I'm not so sure.
I think I'm just getting to fussy about things really and the Unicorn I only had four bubbles for the mane and not
five as in the original so I have some decisions to make............unless I film them again..............aaahhhhh

It was BalloonTube Sunday yesterday. We had a little mix up in what was supposed to be posted and what I had available
that had been edited and was ready to go. The Train tutorial was meant for next year but
was the only video that I have edited and ready to go....ooops, never mind.

I'm rather pleased with how the Train design came out and the way its all connected together, I'm easily pleased, he he.

It's BalloonTube Sunday today, I feel a little guilty as it's not Christmas related but we do
have an Xmas tree and a Santa design over on Balloon Chat.

I went with the Butterfly design, did not realise that this is now over 18 years old, amazing the things you find out 😱

I did a little filming yesterday, the plan was for three more tutorials. All went pretty well and we managed to film four new ones.
The Wolf we did again as we changed part of the design, then the easy line work Cat and the Crown ready for the Queen's celebrations in June.

The last time I filmed the camera was not set correctly and the filming was a little off and wonky......
So I filmed it again today for the next three tutorials of the Crown, Cat and large Dinosaur.
They should be coming out in May, June and July.

Here is a list of the tutorials I have made since we stopped BalloonTube back in July 2022.

The DVD's were already produced but we have made 33 tutorials for the new website plus the Winnie the Pooh
premium tutorial and all the weaved numbers as well.

I've even surprised myself with how busy we have been, plus I now do all the editing myself as well.
The tutorials are going onto the new website gradually over the coming months.
