I see that Dumbo was at the cinema and fancied making it as I had not seen many balloon designs of Dumbo.
So I googled and found this one but can not find who made it.
If you know please let me know thank you.

I came up with two pages on instagram where the picture was posted.
Both seemed to be party planner pages and that was as far as I got.


I then spoke with Rob Driscoll to see if he could make out the watermark
and bingo Rob came back with details of the original designers.
It was Balloongenuity.

I started off with the body last week, the pose was important.
The ruffles were too small on version one.

I then added the ears which look too symmetrical to me.

I changed the ruffles again for version two of Dumbo.
Using rounds for the ears.

These were the first two.

Then after a suggestion from Danielle I went and made the ears from hearts.
I used the 15" hearts and 350's for the body to up scale and make a Jumbo Dumbo.

I also changed the ruffle around his neck to a diamond weave.

He did come out quite a lot larger.

I enjoyed making Dumbo....ears were hard to get big enough, I attached 2 pink hearts together with raisin twists. Dumbo is very cute so I tried to capture that in my twisting.

We did the challenge a little different this time.
Usually we pick someone else's design and make a variation on the theme
but this time around we just picked a subject between us and went with that.


There was a few choices but we both went with Pinocchio.
This was the picture I based my design on.

I started of with the face, it got a little too complicated so decided
simpler would be better as once the rest of Pinocchio's features
were added a simpler face would work.

I started making Pinocchio in the loft/study/office and only took a few pictures on my phone.

The hat started as a sideways flower but we quickly changed that
and the hair needed to flow over tha face a little more.

In the picture his hand is closed so I was trying for this look.

Finished making him in my loft.
Then getting better pictures on my camera downstairs.

I then added artwork and made his hat slightly larger at the base.

I think using Maroon for his shoes worked out well.

I added some rogue to his cheeks.
