Graham Lee

So here we are following on from my cryptic message on facebook yesterday, I must admit I hate it when others post things like this so I'm guilty as charged for that.

This was the message I posted yesterday,

It is a shame when morals and ethics go out the window, sometimes the balloon world makes me sad.
I think the balloon world is going the same way as the magic world, so sad.

So carrying on from my earlier post on facebook,

Goodness, good old facebook never lets you down, I'm just amazed at some of the comments and reactions to someone who has come up with a product for the balloon world
and believes in it so much that they have put their money where there mouth is and all they get from some of our industry is suggestions for using alternative products that
were made for something else, seems to me like a kick in the teeth. Over the past few months I have seen many threads with the majority going the same way.

Yet Ori carries on positively promoting the product and as of yet I have not seen him make any negative comment about all the other ideas people are making.

I wonder how they would feel if they had put a lot of money into a product and then constantly kept seeing suggestions for using other products and even people posting
on their own facebook pages asking have you seen this product/what was it made for as I need to find it cheaper than $25. Well as Ori has mentioned on numerous occasions
he has made the product just for the balloon market, you will find it no where else.

It is not like he can get 1000's produced to reduce the cost, we are a very small community worldwide.

I think we need to play fair, it will not suit everyone but we are hopefully trying to make the balloon world look a more professional unit, that means charging a correct fee when
going out, looking professional in appearance and set up while trying to promote the great art form that we work in, well I say work, it is not work when you do something you truly love.

Jonathan did mention, would it not be great if a product was actually made for the balloon community rather than us having to use different products, like the crop and style bag.
So when one of our community does so...............come on lets support them and try to help if we are in a position to do so. Lets not post all these alternatives and other suggestions.
Let's support each other. It is important.

If you have bought the product and have a gripe about it, then please post away about that as I'm sure Ori would love to hear the pros and cons of his product.
He does offer a 30 day money back guarantee, so where can you go wrong?

Well today to show my support I have purchased the organiser, I like the set up I have at the moment but always happy to experiment and see what else may work.

So Ori, thank you for taking the time and effort to bring the balloon community a unique product.

I read everything. I think I understand. Sometimes it's difficult for people to read between the lines.  You do a good job here on Facebook but also on the forum. It's just hard to keep everyone happy and you do the best you can. I clearly missed some reactions on Ori  his product. Too bad people  go for cheap replacement and I think  it's not done to do that also in places where he promotes his product. They must be ashamed

But it happens everywere,  glad you did take the time to make a point

Keep it up Graham. I for one would be lost without your enthusiasm.
The Care & Share days are excellent - and the other balloonatics aren't bad either!
Does that get me a discount?  ;)

So what is it about Graham and people called Daniel?

I wish I could have posted this on Facebook but as the post was not in a closed group I do not wish to... Balloons are only one aspect of my life and most of my Facebook friends have no interest in the squabbles of the Balloon World

I just wanted to share my support for Graham and also my outrage at the abuse he has received just because he tried to support a friend. I think we all know that Graham is a fairly resilient character, so am I, but if someone questioned my integrity in this way it would cut fairly deep. The conversation currently on Facebook that appears to have become a post mortem into every aspect of Graham's character should never have become so... People should be very ashamed.

I don't think anyone could accuse me of being a member of the Graham Lee fan club. In fact use the search button and you will find that Graham and I have had our ups and downs in the past but I have always respected Graham and realised that everything he does through Balloonchat, C&S days etc are driven through passion rather than money-making motives. I think if they were financially driven he would have stopped them a long time ago but I sense he has such an emotional attachment to his creations. They are his his legacy. I for one will openly admit that if it were not for Balloonchat and C&S days I would not be the balloon artist I am today and I would not have some of the friends that I have today.

So Graham sells a few balloons... Good on him, they are great value and he gives great service!

I am a little bit befuddled as to what prompted the initial assault. Reading FB tonight I sense that an absent retreat has replaced the arrogance of the key protagonist. I just hope they now have the decency to make amends.

That's very well put Martin.

These are the type of instances that caused me to close my Facebook account and just have a profile for viewing a few groups and managing our business page. Having no 'friends' was the best thing I ever did for that particular website.

Graham, your dedication to this forum has shown that you do it for the love of the art/business rather than pure monetary gain. So what if you sell balloons too, we all have to pay the bills and feed the family. I for one appreciate your dedication and have learnt a lot from these forums. Hopefully one day I'll have learnt enough to make it more of a carreer than a hobby.

I tried to post on the facebook page tonight to answer the last part of Daniel's question/comment and struggled, not sure if it was because the post was too long?
I had to post it in three sections.

I wanted to put something somewhere, as I found out about this today. As most of you either know or will do when you read this, I am on sort of a self imposed internet withdrawal type thing. I would also rather post on here than on Facebook, because to me this site is more important. This isn't a post about Ori's product which I know the initial post was about, but about the backlash that Graham has received around this.

I have great respect for Graham and believe that in the time that I've been involved within the industry, that no-one has done more for  us as learners (let's face it we all learn new things) either helping us with ideas, providing us with a site that's easy to use with a wealth of information, organising days and events, which I know first hand isn't easy and many many other things. I am very pleased, honoured and humbled to be part of the list that was published of instructors and look forward to being a part of the Guild again as soon as circumstances allow.

Martin.

Am I the only one who laughed hysterically at this?!  Hilarious!

Anyway,  back on point....

Here's where I'm coming from.  I saw the Origanizer and thought it looked like a great product.  I tried to DIY it first.  That didn't turn out so well for me.  In fact, it was a total disaster.  The only good thing to come out of it was a jig saw for my husband.  He was most appreciative.  I bought 6 of the origanizers when they were on sale, and have been extremely happy.

I realize this discussion really isn't about the Origanizers, but more about an attitude.  Obviously, I don't think it's wrong for someone to try and do something for themselves.   It is wrong to expect others to do it for you.  This opinion carries over into the, "Can someone tell me exactly how to make what's in this picture of someone else's work?" mentality. This makes me CRAZY!  When Brenion came out with his Jumbos, I saw the pictures and created the big bunny before the videos came out.  However, after the video was available, I bought it too as a "thank you for creating this".  I'm very "frugal", but realize people spend a lot of time and effort on creating these ideas.  There's nothing wrong with someone trying, but there is an issue with someone who is all take and no give. (in my humble opinion).
