Hey All,

Until now I have been doing 1 hour parties. This includes about 20 minutes of games and then my show which is 40 minutes. More and more I am getting requests for 1.5 hour parties. I have said yes to one now but I am really trying to figure out how to engage these kids for over an hour!

I was thinking of a little circus workshop afterwards, scarves and feather balancing.

What does your 1.5 hour party package entail?

What are some of your favourite games?

Do you enjoy a 1.5 hour party or do you prefer the 1 hour?

Would love some ideas!

Cheers!

I used to do an hour balloon game show, balloon prizes and balloon games. If you get them in two teams it will build the excitement.
Maybe I should do a care and share day on the subject.

I do 3 lengths of parties, firstly the short 30 min for pre schools and little tots, this is just a basic magic show. next is my 45 minute show which is magic and a couple of balloons, then my 2 hour long party,

I have never had a call for doing an hour and a half but then my 2 hour party does include a 20 min break for the kids to eat food. so its much the same length.

I have never had a problem filling the 2 hour party, I generally do an hour of magic to start with, its not a problem to keep the kids entertained for the first hour, then they go and eat and while they are eating I make up some of the balloons to give out later on.

I get them back after food to do games, I usually only manage to fit 2 games in but I have a third handy if I need finally for the last 5/10 mins its the prize giving and giving out the balloons.

As for games, I do a musical game which I invented, it is like musical statues but in my games no one gets called to sit out and get bored, all kids are involved all the time. I sometimes do a pass the parcel, I have a fabric bag system that takes me 5 mins to set up, occasionally I will do the Limbo with them and I have a spare musical game just in case.

I'd really be interested in a care and share day Graham! I know how to entertain with general dancing and party games, and I know how to make each kid a balloon but putting on a balloon show really stumps me!

Games wise a version of 'corners' with a big spinner (nicked from the twister set!) works really well. You could maybe do that with balloons in each corner of a different colour ( I do it with different coloured Princesses and Superheros usually). Loads of practice gos, then each kid is a 'winner' instead of out and fast to the end to get final winner for bigger prize. Usually takes around 10 mins. Another option is to bounce balloons in the air until music stops then grab a colour balloon. I Close eyes and say a colour and whoever has that colour is out / winner. Again loads of practice gos so the actual 'out' time is minimal.

I love this 'grab a balloon when the music stops' idea! I am going to explore a version of that!

It's great - only trouble is finding a good but cheapish largish balloon that doesn't pop in gardens or old church halls! Large qualatex are too pricey for 30 - 40 just to bouce around for a game but pound shop ones sound like a battle zone with all the pops and tears! if anyone can recommend a good basic bounce around balloon that would be very handy!

LOL... our company is balloons and tunes... so our 'statue' style game.. they all have a balloon, so when music stops they have to throw balloon in the air catch it then do when ever it is we have told them today (usually be various animals)... we give sweets to the best and no one is ever out (no one notices!!)

we have the electronic pass the parcel... that little box is amazing

If buying qualatex buy standard colours they are cheaper
and buy 9" for games cheaper again...

Anagram latex are also good for games and slightly cheaper than qualatex...

also belbal balloons are cheaper

Mattlewis also has a range of cheap balloons he is now selling and think UPUPandaway also have own brand cheap balloons fine for air filling and better quality than poundshops rubbish

5/6 years ago they sold them in argos and woollies for about £15 each
now they only place you see them is on ebay
on this page they seem expensive but they do come up and sometimes can be bought cheaper on auction...
