Can someone please advise me on my following idea?!....

For my wedding we are having a table for sweets (mostly for me, not the children!), and I wanted to try and make a balloon arch. I was planning on 4 balloon clusters of 11" qualatex. These would be wrapped around fishing line and weighted at the ends. Am I correct in thinking that if I filled them all with helium it would float, or would the balloons be too heavy? If i just filled a single balloon at each end with sand or water would this be enough to keep it all in place?
Finally, What effect does heat have on helium, in balloons? Am I best trying to make the arch in the venue the day before or is it safe to make at home and transport in the car, finally finally, how long will helium filled latex balloons last? Just so people are aware I am just about to buy the Colin Myles wedding DVD from Grahams site (I think I may be asked to make balloons at my friends wedding soon)
Many thanks in advance.

You need an arch kit its a pole you tie them round dont use helium for a four balloon cluster arch you dont need to : )

Yes I've seen those, but as I don't know the exact dimension of the table until we're actually there I thought it was best to go with fishing line and helium.

As it is your wedding should you not have other things on your mind and get someone else do the balloons for you?
I would imagine the day will be stressful without adding the worry of the balloons to your day.

I agree with Grahams comments, don't stress your self out on the day...  either get advice or help....

There are many possibilities to give you what you require....but do you the time and expertise to learn and confidence to complete it on the day?

It is important that you please Note:   if you do not "treat latex balloons" they will only last between 10 - 18 hours, too many short notice customers of mine have been people who inflate their balloons for a function the day before.....only to find them on the floor the next morning...

What ever you decide.. I wish you the best on your special day. ;)

Ah, I didn't realise the life was that short. Wedding on thursday, was going to do this on wednesday afternoon. So it won't happen, and Graham, this was an idea I only had yesterday so I thought I'd try it out myself, but won't bother now!
For future reference, what is a good treatment for helium filled balloons? Hi-Float is all have seen so far. Is this a good product?

Yes, Hi-float is a great product. The float time is increased to around 25 times.
You can treat the balloons and inflate them the day before the event.
The 24oz bottle will treat 141 11" balloons.
You need a bottle of Hi-float with a pump. There are various collars to regulate the amount of Hi-float dispensed. Use the correct one for the size of balloon.
You need to spread the Hi-float inside the balloon. Keep it out of the neck.
Luc Bertrand had a video on YouTube demonstrating the best method to do this. Basically, he sticks his thumb into the balloon opposite to the nozzle, and twists it.

Thanks, I've seen quite a lot about Hi Float but I don't know who Luc Bertrand is I'm afraid. I haven't come across any other balloon treatment for helium on my internet travels!

Wedding over, we all had a great time. I put bags of modelling balloons on every table with a few simple instructions and that went down a treat! We had to decorate the marquee the day before so instead of the helium arch I made a balloon column with a blue and red hugging bears on top. Everyone loved it!
