Can I please ask what your thoughts are about having your prices on your website for balloon decor.

Mine are on my website, but I'm considering taking them off again, but not too sure!

My general thoughts regards my magic shows is that if the prices are on the site, I can't sell the show as well as I can on the phone. If they were to go straight to the price for my show, chances are they would try the next entertainer. Could this be the same for balloons?

I had my prices of some of the decor on the site before I moved it and lost the gallery ( dont ask!!), the stuff that sells week after week and you know those that dont want to spend too much will choose regardless of how much you tell them. I found that at times I received an email froma bride listing out what they wanted and the total spend - just sent them a confirmation the paid the bill and I did the work - we never spoke.. quite amazing..

I am in the process of rebuilding the gallery so it will take a while but it will have prices on again when I get it running on the bigger and more elaborate items I dont put prices but state created to order so ring for your personal quotation then I can sell them.

I agree with the party prices not being on - a big part of booking a party is being confident with the person you are booking and that they can do what you want and I dont think you can do that in words.

All we can suggest is try it - do some and not others and see what happens, you area could be very different to someone elses

Built my site on the back of what prospects want.

They call you they ask "How much".

I have a automatic system that gives them the info they want once the fill in the form.

When I get a phone call I fill in the form for them.

No more trying to sell to the looky loos.

This is so easy peasy.

Hi Pam & Fuzzy,

I can see what you're both saying and how it makes life easier if when they call you, the website has already sold the balloons for you. But do you think you would have sold more if they had called and then you sold it to them?

An example is that someone called me last week and said what they wanted which came to about £35. I said I would pop out and see them at their home to show the colours and discuss it further, then walked away with them choosing just over £200 worth of decor for their wedding.

Graeme I am glad you posted this as this is something I am mulling over at present.  One of my local balloon companies list a lot of prices on their sites and others don't.

I am erring to the not having prices except maybe for the deliveries but they are separate really.  I have found with my face painting and to a lesser extent the twisting that people book you and not what you do so much do iykwim?  I also think if your prices are more than someone elses people won't even bother calling you they will just move on to the next person and you won't even get the opportunity to charm them.

I think I have just talked myself into not putting prices on my website now   I am thinking that if people want cheap and cheerful then they can go to eBay, buy kits and helium and screw it up for themselves  ;)

That always makes me laugh when you see people at parties who have brought their own kits, complaining because they get nowhere near the amount of balloons it says on the kit . . . . . AFTER they have blown up their balloons to almost bursting point.

I know it's laughable.  I had a woman contact me basically wanting me to pre-prepare a 30 balloon arch for £25 because that is what she had allegedly been quoted by a local party shop

I quoted her £45 and she declined my offer because she had downloaded instructions off the internet.  Not sure how I managed to not to laugh really because once she buys 200 balloons (she wanted 2 colours), weights, fishing line and either hired a helium tank or bought her own it would already be nearly the same price as having me do it without the time to put it together etc    Also not sure how I resisted the urge not to go along to peek at their attempts considering it was only 2 mins down the road.

Do you visit all prospects?

I'm guessing you want to sell over the phone rather than use the web.

Have you thought about this.......

2 Identical websites or pages

One with no prices and only a phone number for them to call you ( or maybe a form for them to fill in make this short though Name? phone number? time to call?)

Tip: Have the form on the page they are reading NOT a separate page.

The other with your prices displayed.
