Can I ask just a few questions?

have you tried them yet?

have you experimented with them?
What have you come up with

what do you think of them?

No other reason than just a personal interest

personally I think twisters will get a lot out of them because a string of links is just a string of BIG bubbles we have not had to twist and all the same size and will not come apart.... so everything you can do with a 260 you should be able to scale up

I have been using them since I was able to lay my grubby little hands on them. Mainly for bodies, though I've also been using them as arms too. I they are so easy to use with the extra attachment point that models can go together cleaner and faster than with rounds. I just need more colours now :-)

They are AMAZING for shows!  They are large and lovely.  I like having the 2 attachment points without having to worry about raisins.  I was amazed at how people were using them at TnS.  It was a real eye opened.

Use them to make teddies. Also use them for bodice in large females as they are less fragile than hearts. Went on the Qualatex roadshow which was mainly decor but the hearts and leaves were interesting. Think there are lots of opportunities with the 6" for twisting - just need the time to play when not doing orders and general life type stuff lol Think quick links will be better than linkaloons as I have noticed the bubble on them is nicely rounder and more uniform than linkaloons :)

Love the bear Sonia, are the ears 'sort-of' pinch-twisted Quick-links?

Cheers

Hi Steve,
Not sure if this is how Sonia does it but I remembered seeing a video on a similar bear. Here is the link.

Hi Stuart, thanks for that.

I still prefer Sonia's bear - theirs isn't bad, but they used ordinary 5" rounds for the ears and somehow it didn't look as good. Sonia's ears (or rather the bears!) look smoother and seem have a better shape (in my eyes anyway).

I think I've got some old 'Link-o-loons' somewhere (haven't had chance to get any Quick-links yet), I'm tempted to dig them out and have a go...

Cheers,

Steve ;)

I agree about Sonia's bear's ears. There are other bear tutorials on you tube that use slightly less inflated linking balloons that are then kind of pinch twisted (which is what I think Sonia has done).
She has also attached the belly of the bear in a much better way than the video I linked to. Again, other videos show this differently and I prefer Sonia's.
I ordered a few quick links after looking around around at the possibilities. I reckon there might even be a fun school project to be had with these ballloons.
Good luck with your projects

Hi there Steve and Stuart Yes the ears are pinch twisted linkaloons/quick links. I make pretty much the whole bear from them apart from eyes, nose and flowers. Not sure on sizing as I use precision air to inflate. Just inflate large and small ones  Connect the ends to make a circle and pinch twist the smaller ones. They are all 12" just inflated to different sizes. The white belly and muzzle are also quick links/linkaloons :) as they give a better finish :) love to see what you come up with :)

Thought I would update this post. Here are a couple of things I have made using quick links. I based Olaf on a design I think I saw on here but not sure. (The geo head design was what made me want to have a go at him but I used a quick link for the main Part of the body). The rabbit was a design I came up with and used the quicklink for the body. And finally, ChiTwister posted a picture of the bunny and I had a to at it. I don't think the design came from him originally but don't know who to credit. It is awesome and you can wear it like a hat  :D

Ok, so I finally got around to making the bear that I have seen a lot of others do.
It is massive (picture with my daughter for scale)
Having now done it,  I would certainly adjust some of the balloon sizes to make some smaller than others. This would give a better shape and tighter finish I think.
I do love this design but don't know who to credit for the original designas there are so many tutorials out there for this one.
