I was excited by the release of this DVD and was expecting something special. On the outset I was a little disappointed as many of these designs are not too dissimilar to many of those I have seen before. If  you are new to making wristbands then this DVD will give you a framework  upon which to build your own designs. However, I would first take a look at the collection of PDFs from Jeanine Von Essen (Vol 2.5). Perhaps I am being overly critical here as Gilbert does emphasise this DVD is about giving ideas on which to build your own wristbands.

The DVD production is excellent with over the shoulder angles but the chapters are not set at the start of each design which can be a little frustrating. I will be bold to say I feel the DVD is a little overpriced but would still recommend it for people new to balloon wristbands. A competent instructional DVD.

The price of $40 and is available from  http://www.tmyers.com

GIRAFFE

An effective wristband giraffe and as with all of these designs they can be easily mounted on a hairband. Although simple to construct I did find the 160 legs were a little unstable to support the top heavy head section but this may have been because the legs were too soft. As an added bonus I was able to copy the design into a larger 260 design which looked really good.

DINOSAUR

This dinosaur reminded me of a character from The Flintstones. A quick design to make for line work. In this example I think I made the body a little long. As with the Giraffe I was able to replicate this model in 260s for another useful model.

DUCK

A competent wristband duck. Nothing particularly new here in terms of design but fairly quick to construct.

FISH

I've seen many goldfish designs for bracelets and wristbands. Nothing new here but a nice design with effective use of a clear balloon for bubbles.

PENGUIN

I've made countless different designs for penguins. This is a faster alternative to the superb design by David Brenion but lacks the cute factor.

HORSE

For me this is the best model on this DVD. A really cute horse which can be made in various colours. This model is good as a standalone model or as a wristband design. As with previous designs I was able to remake this one using 260s.

CHICKEN

A good chicken model using a nest as the base. The red 160 adds character and is well done.

CRAB

A nice crab which uses a 'shell' to hold the eyes securely. I've seen plenty of crab designs before and this one is not wildly original.

PANDA

This section of the DVD looks at making small balloon faces that can be used as wristbands. This panda face was not particularly impressive and my trial audience didn't know what it was! I think this is down to the way I made it rather than the actual design.

TIGER/LION

There are two versions for this balloon, i.e. a tiger and a lion. The use of an orange 160 makes for a nice mane and adds character.

CAT & MOUSE

This is this best of the face style balloons. A cat holds a small mouse in its mouth.
