Balloon Review 102 - Wacky Ralph Book by Aaron Chee

Available from http://www.1fivezero.com - now priced $15.90 (approx £10) including worldwide shipping.

You will all recall my review of the very expensive and awful book that Aaron published a while back. I was therefore cautious to invest more money given my past experiences but after being criticised on a facebook forum for asking to see the completed model before purchasing, I figured I needed to make the investment to save all of you your hard earned cash.

So will this be more of the same or an improvement?

Let's see what we have here.

This is a single character book of a parody for Wreck-It Ralph. The book itself is just 7 pages long. It is in full colour with 120 small photographs and written instructional text. Each book is signed by Aaron and includes a wax seal of authenticity!

To start, the quality of the book is 100 times better than my last review. The print quality is better, the text and photos clearer and whilst the instructions are a little unclear in a couple of places, there has been a dramatic improvement. The main criticism is a lot of the balloon is made in blush and the photos have been shot with a white background which seems a little silly.

I actually like this model. It stands quite tall and the head design is actually very clever. I really like the way the hair is held in place. Neat. The hands are big and bold which gives Ralph his character. The legs and feet are very simple.

Overall I have to say I am happy with the purchase. Yes you read that correctly! A little pricey and a PDF download would have been better but I guess Aaron is trying to prevent illegal copying.

This is an advanced set of instructions - beginners stay away.

Hi

I no longer post the exact balloons required at the request of artists as it makes it easier for people to copy without paying for the original instructions. This is made of 350s/260s/5" rounds/160s.

I hope this helps.
