Title: 126 - FROG AND SHARK BY JEANINE VON ESSEN
Post by: Areyouhappydad on October 25, 2014, 03:04:31 PM
Ok, I have had this PDF for a while now and never got end to making the models but finally I decided to give them a go.
The PDF can be purchased as an instant download at https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1865609 ... ef=pr_shop (https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/186560916/frog-and-shark-balloon-instructions?ref=pr_shop)
And for us Brits, costs about £3.20.
I shall review each design on its own.

First in the PDF is the frog and this guy can be made in two sizes. The instructions are good and the pictures certainly help here. In particular, there is a part near the beginning where you wrap a bubble around. The positioning of the pinch twists is not made clear but is obvious in a later photo so do look ahead (it was easy to undo and adjust though).
The frog sits by itself once complete and is a quick design to make. The design could be embellished with the addition of a tongue but work s really well without.
The smaller frog is exactly the same but using a 160 only and is therefore more economical (the large frog uses two balloons and a scrap).
This design was worth the purchase alone and I am sure I shall be making him again and again.

The shark is another good looking design though is a little trickier than the frog. The main body construction is straight forward and does look great. Careful attention does need to be made to the inflation size and bubble size as the entire balloon is used.
The addition of the white eyes and teeth is more tricky and whilst it seems straight forward enough I did struggle with the positioning of the teeth once done.
The design will work well as a quick shark without the added detail and so is definitely one that I will use again. I am sure that with a bit more practice I can also sort the teeth out.

To summarise,  this is a great PDF for the price and worth the small investment. The instructions could be a little clearer in places but the quality of the photographs really helps with this.
If you want a good shark and frog then look no further.

Excellent review.  Recently, on FB someone posted this shark made with 350s and it is stunning when upscaled.
