I have a party on Saturday and the little boy loves Star Wars and as I know his Mum I would like to make something a little more special for him.  However, the big catch is that it will also need to be easily repairable as it will be going in the car at 8am and staying there until 12.45pm!

So any tips on keeping it in one piece in the car would also be a huge help.

I use a large clear plastic bag which is sealed (knotted).

This is then placed into material bag with a drawstring.

Makes transporting in/out of car and venue easy.

Any damage is done to the material & keeps the sun off the balloon.

Keeps the gift as surprise when taking it into the party... making a big impact when giving it to the birthday child.

Tip: Add a flower bow around the knot for decorative effect.

Yvonne, I just did a Star Wars party a couple of weeks ago.  I took a modified version of John Christianson's Stormtropper mask as my 'special balloon'.  I was unsure how the parent would feel about arming the child with weapon too, so I waited until I could ask her permission in person before making it.  The Bboy (and everyone else) went nuts over it.  The first half of the party was used making weapons so that "war" could be waged.

To address the repair issue: 1) Make the mask the night before.  This will allow the balloons to age a bit and relax which helps them deal with temperature changes easier.  Freshly made bubbles will burst when exposed to even the slightest bit of raised temps.

2) Even if you bag your sculpture like Fuzzy suggested, place a couple of bottles of frozen water around the sculpture (I use 2 liter soda bottles).  This will keep the temperature around the sculpture down even as the heat of the car increases. I have taken sculptures to parties that had to wait in the car for over 6 hours during the hottest part of the summer and never lost a bubble by using the ice bubbles.

3) If you can't bag the sculpture, place a folded, white bed sheet over it as well as the ice bottles around it.  The white of the sheet will help reflect the sun's rays.

Have fun at your party!
Happy twisting,

Well spotted Lisa!  Just found a yoda and Darth Vader bracelet on Balloon-Animals.com along with a mini light sabre so will be practsing those tonight.  Also thought the Yoda one could easily be turned into a Princess Leah bracelet too.

Adie that was from an article Don Caldwell wrote for BalloonHQ but I recall from the little I read of the words that the design was not his but I could be wrong.

Cool R2D2 btw and Bonnie that stormtrooper wearable you posted the link for is totally awesome but to be completely honest I wouldn't have a clue where to start with it

Ok Star Wars ideas....

Space ship fighter thing, C3PO, Monkeys (Chewbacca), Laser swords (160 inside clear 260),
alien space guns, Yoda, Darth Veda hat,
Don's Alien on a planet hat, Aliens and weird creatures in general.

Hope this helps, I know it may not be exactly what you are looking for!
