I did a quick search but couldn't find anything but maybe looking for wrong term - is there a particular method for ending a balloon e.g tie off and discard rest of balloon?  Currently this is my most feared instruction as have managed to deflate creation a couple of times.  Watching a balloon twister at a fair the other week he did so quick I couldn't see how he was doing it - but it almost appeared like he had something on his wrist using to cut off remaining balloon?

There are several tools - the most easiest one to access is your fingers.  Practice snapping off your balloons.  Make sure the balloon is filled, hold your hands side by side, thumbs on the balloon next to each other.  Don't squeeze the balloon, and in one movement push 'through' the balloon.  If you don't succeed, push the air back and try again.  (It wont work unless its got air in the section you're trying to inflate).

Or you can get a cutter you can clip to your belt

Scissors also work well - make sure there is no air in the end of the balloon, and make a small snip in the end, deflate that bit, tie off and snip off the excess.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply - I have been using scissors and that is the way have been doing it, just wanted to check there was no special way of doing it and that you snap/cut before you tie off (I have four books out of the library and various instructions but no where has it really explained how to do it)

Will practice just using my fingers.

I've found I can't for the life of me get balloons to snap the way the pros do it, however I developed my own technique.  once your sculpture is done, twist a 3-4 finger bubble then a small, very tight pinch twist - I then use my thumbnail to pop the pinch twist - then just pull of the end of the balloon and tie off the end - it takes practice but I've found it works better for me

Warren Ann has a good video on youTube that shows how he does it:
