I'll start the charm offensive on her Ladyship now to see if I can get time off for good behaviour.

I've already got  'permission' to go to the British Grand Prix in June with a couple of mates so it may need some wangling but I'd love to go.

Right... my strategy is to book my flight whilst it will be cheap and then worry about pursuading the 'purchasing department' later

Am I right in thinking that Antwerp airport is the best one to fly in to?

I believe the plan is to run the event similar to the juggling convention this year as there is no sponsor. You just turn up and put your name down, everyone is doing it for the love this year :D
In Europe we have plenty of love to give

Leo... slow with things????? NEVER!!!!!

It will be a "crisisjam" (although I preferred the name 'Minillenniumjam'), so I don't think it will be more expensive!!!!! and it's only 3 days instead of 5!
I can't tell more about instructors yet, but Leo already has some cool names he's thinking about...

The new website should be up and working today, http://www.millenniumjam.com (http://www.millenniumjam.com)
Looking into the chances of running another organised trip from the UK with an all in one price for the event.

I have spoken with Leo today and he confirms the event is going ahead but he's been a little slow with the website as in his words it will build up the excitement and anticipation, so hopefully the website wont be too long in appearing and then we can start organising the trip over.

 Careful, if you choose to go to the millenium!
Many villas are robbed (one by week at least... You can ask the police from MOL to know that I tell you the truth!
SUNPARKS WILL NOT COMPENSATE.
You will get only your eyes for crying...
Conwin team was robbed, too, at Millenium 2008....

Hot of the press, well hot off the phone with Leo and the price for the millennium jam is confirmed at 99 Euro's.
We will also be doing the organised trip which will include registration, acommodation and travel on Eurostar from St Pancras.
As soon as we get the confirmed all in one price I'll let you know ASAP.

I will need to know confirmed numbers etc by Aug 8th as we need to book 3 months early to get the best price on eurostar.

As you know already for 7 months now that the burglars have been caught in December 2008.
The stolen stuff is returned to the rightful owners (I know because I brought the stuff from Sue and John back to them)
Funny that you don't mention this in your post.
Offcourse what has happened is awful and Sunparks did not react in a good way (to say the least), but also mention the rest of the story when you tell it.
I know Leo and both Ingrid and I did everything we could at TMJ 2008 to prevent burglaries and helped were possible

Yes, please don't be put off about coming to The Millennium Jam due to this, unfortunately things like this do go on in life and we all need to be extra careful.
Are we all not going to attend the best balloon convention in the world due to one robbery, well I'm not.
Title: Re: The Millennium Jam 2009 dates confirmed

The official organised trip   from the UK to the worlds greatest balloon convention leaving St Pancras on Monday 9th November and returning on Friday 13th November.
The cost will include, travel, shared room in a bungalow, registration and a taxi to & from Brussels to the venue. Total cost £210.
This breaks down as £60 to me for Eurostar, fingers crossed the price will stay the same. If the price increases then we have to pass this onto you and the remainder is paid to Leo of 175 euros (£150).
I need confirmed numbers by Sunday 9th Aug as I need to book the eurostar on Monday 10th August to get the best prices.

If you require a room on your own the additional cost will be £65

Funny enough I cannot mention that my stuff has been return as it has never been returned so far ! I mean my computer, camera, mobile phone, my bags,...  among others, are definitly gone !. The police told and write me that most of the things have been thrown away in the water. The only thing I could have got back was my mobile phone !
I offered the Police to pay for the post cost to send it back to me but they just refused telling me that I should travel there to get it !  This is the rest of the story if you ask me !

You may want to know what did Sunparks do? almost nothing apart from offering me a diner in one of there restaurant for two persons!
I have just been informed that Sue and John were robbed only when I was robbed myself ... 5 days after... That why, I informed that bad discovery  in each classroom.

Do you still want to know more about the rest of the story ? Any compensation from Sunparks' insurance for instance ? NOTHING at all.

A loss of 3 196 euros in a week: that's the true story !! and the funny thing is, that I paid an additional  charge of 100 euros to get a basic villa for 2 persons next to the reception !
Goog luck at Sunparks : they might have hired nigth watchmen but I would not bet !

Hello Rosalie
I was very sorry to hear about your awful experience.  The whole situation was awful and I very much understand your motives for these posts.  You don't want the same thing to happen to other people.  I personally am a walking disaster area.  Ask anyone who knows me well and they will knod with resigned agreement.  So it won't be of any surprise to know that I too have had some bad experiences along the way.  Travelling alone and being targeted by a crime gang on the train network being the worst one.  I lost everything including my passport and laptop and money.  That was something totally apart from the Millennium Jam.  i was on my way there yes but not there yet.  It is the same whenever you travel.  You an't afford to be naive.  Its a good world out there with a few bad people in it.  It is good to know the people who perpetrated the burgularies at the jam have been caught.  I do have to say this though.  If I were going to let my past experineces in life dictate my future actions I would sit at home and never venture out.  I love the millennium jam event.  It is my favourite event of the year and no way am I going to let some low life stop me from going.  Last year was very bad due to the instigator of the burgularies and the attitude of the Sun Parks Resort stank.  But if you go anywhere on your travels with valuable property there is always a risk.  Ask about any resort and you will hear about this or that incident.

If you want to go but are worried about taking your laptop then simply dont take it.  There is a computer there with internet connection that everyone has access to so you can keep tabs on your email with that.

The event is worth going to

so if you are going  I will see you there!

Is there any chance that the new website may come up any time soon? If not who can I contact with a few questions?

I am definitely going but will make my own way there as I can be there from MCR in the time it takes to get to St Pancras to meet the trip.

I just want to make sure I am flying to the right airport and booking accomodation at the correct Sunparks :!:  ...I obviously want to book asap before all the prices start going up :!:  :!:

Martin.

Thelma flew once and went to the wrong airport, I'm sure she will tell you the correct one to fly into.
I believe this is the correct sunparks; http://www.sunparks.be/VL/BE/vakantiepa ... ense_meren (http://www.sunparks.be/VL/BE/vakantiepark/kempense_meren)
but when you email them just ask to double check.

Any other questions fire away and I'll see if I can answer them for you,
if not I'm going out for a meal with Leo next Sunday and will find out for you.

Patricia is over in the UK on holiday and is not sure she has time to pop over as she is only in the UK for 10 days and wants to tour around seeing things as it's her very first visit over.
So you never know she may change her mind but to make sure you see her it's best to book in for the day in Birmingham  ;)

Thankfully Dustin and I will be in Stuttgart Germany getting to play with some balloons though and hanging out with some really cool balloon people.

As soon as there are details for next years TMJ, please let me know!  I would love to bring the whole family over.

I hope you all have a great time!

Everyone's at mine that should be and we are just waiting for the taxi to take us all to the station.
Should be fun getting five in with two suitcases each.

Here are the first pictures from the event and it does not start until tomorrow, there are a few early birds who have arrived to help with the decor. This years theme is a fantasy castle.

Waiting at St Pancras for the Eurostar train and went into a coffee shop to get a coffee, after 30 mins we walked out without being served. It was busy.

Having a very fun time here at TMJ. I just popped into Thelma's class and learnt a couple of nice things.

Everyone should start saving up for the big 10th celebration next year. Leo has already told me some of the fantastic things planned.

Must go and twist....

I'm sitting in the jam room feeling a bit nostalgic with over a hundred people around me twisting away and have to say that there are other conventions, euro jam, twist and shout, diamond jam etc but until you have been to and experienced the millennium jam you have just not experienced what is truly the best twister balloon convention in the world. The people, the friendship, just everything about it so if you have never been then next year is going to be the best ever as they will be celebrating there 10th.
This year is meant to be the crisis jam but it's just amazing, words are heard to find to do the convention proud, perhaps what the Americans keep saying.......................it's awesome, full stop.

I saw my geo tank that is on my new DVD to be released in February at Twist & Shout on here.
There must have been someone there from the lecture I did in the Netherlands this week.  I also saw a little lion that I showed  :)

Looks like you are all having fun, I wish I could have stayed longer so I could have joined you all.

I just got home after the best TMJ I've attended (three in total).

It really is the best Jam in the world, there is always so much to learn, friendly people and lots of twisting going on.

A MASSIVE thanks must go to Mr. Graham Lee for organising the trip from the UK. Also those lovely people at TMJ/IBS Balloons need a huge thanks too.

I'll be there next year and will start saving!

I'm at home also. It's hard to keep my eyes open.......yesterday, actually this morning we jammed till 3:30.
We had just so much fun. Creating new things, recreate the things we saw from someone else, dansing... Thelma showed us she can still do the split.... You understand we were just "millenniumjamming!" If not, you have to be there next yeart and join us. It's just fantastic.

I met a lot of old friends, made a lot of new ones also. Created some nice new things and learned some new technics.
I'll post some pictures soon. I was surprised to see that Graham posted so many pictures, but posted none of my new figures! :o
   So I'll just have to do it myself then     .

Thank you Graham, Danny, Thelma, Kate, Natalie, Julie and Dave for all the fun we had.
Especially the walk back after my first outside Sunparcs dinner      What a fun walk was that!

Sophie, teaching us the cross weave.

crossweave sophie.JPG[/attachment:3kworp1j]

After Thelma's workshop I used the base of her santa for "sinterklaas and zwarte piet" some duch figures.
Sinterklaas is celebrating his birthday on 5 dec, and gives presents to all the kids in the country. A bit like santa,...only we have them both  :D . Zwarte pieten (is something like black piet) are his helpers.

This year the Iron Latax Man is a woman!

Her name is Yolanda (also known als Yollie) and she is duch!
It's the second time that a woman won and she is the first duch person.
I have to look if I can use the picture oin my mobile phone to show her figure. Somehow, I only took a picture with my mobile phone, forgot to use my camera, stupid isn't it? That was all becouse I used my mobile phone to be albe to send some live pictures to Brenda.

I tell you, it was a great figure and her artwork was so cool!

This was my first Jam and I can highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going. You get to meet some incredibly nice and very talented people who are willing to share their knowledge and milk with you. What more could you want?

A week on from TMJ 2009, I have now done 6 gigs using some off the stuff I learnt and it has been received very well, at the start of my parties I start with balloons, the first one I found I had a new confidants in what I was doing not only has tmj helped my twisting skills but my performance.
It's also great to mix with like minded people, just seeing the way they work and hearing some off the stories they have about what they do and how they got into twisting.
Would I recommend the convention? with out a doubt, for the skill and ideas I have taken away my business will grow. you don't have to do all 5 days.
The only thing I need to work on now is timing, on Monday my Girlfriend and I decided we had grow apart so have gone are separate ways (still friends) now everyone is asking what happened in Belgium?

Quote from: "Normski"cant he change the month or make it earlier or later in the month

it will normally be about the same period, so the week of 11 november.

A bit late, but thanks to all you guys for making it a fun edition this year!
We were pretty afraid what this downsized version would be, but it was one of the funnest jams we had!
Instead of having a lot of competitions and galas etc, the focus was more on the jamming and on "being there together and make it as fun a possible!"...
It was nice seeing you again (those I already knew), meeting you (those I didn't know yet) and I am looking forward to seeing you guys again next year!
