Balloon Chit Chat / More Experience
March 06, 2012, 05:53:33 AM
I have been balloon modelling for nine years (started ten years ago but took a year out to pursue other work), however I believe I have more experience than many balloon artists who have been twisting balloons for twenty or 30 years (etc.).

Many balloon artists (possibly most) are not balloon modelling everyday or only for an hour or two daily (as many engagements only last a short time. e.g children's birthday parties). I know a lot of balloon artists only have a few balloon modelling engagements every week.

Many also stick to hire engagements (or providing their services for free when it's for charity) and don't work for donations such as busking on the streets.

Not so much nowadays but for about nine years I have been balloon modelling almost everyday for at least six hours. When not on a hire engagement I have busked with my balloons on the street and pubs (etc.). The money isn't always great but it's better than
many jobs (not balloon modelling jobs) which pay a lot less.

Please tell us your thoughts. Perhaps you have been balloon modelling for ten years (etc.) but believe you have more experience than someone who has been in the business for 20 or 30 years (etc.)?

Members of Equity can be listed on their children's entertainers directory and it's 100% free of charge. When I did a Google (etc.) search for children's entertainers or children's entertainers directory their site didn't rank well. Has anyone here had any inquiries or bookings via the directory?

Balloon Chit Chat / Time Machine Balloon Model
March 05, 2012, 08:12:22 PM
I have made a time machine balloon model and when I get it working I will be traveling back in time before I joined Balloon Chat. I will not join and I will be a lot happier.

Great site and thanks to Graham. But enough is enough. I am not welcome here and shall be leaving the forum

Goodbye to everyone.

Balloon Chat is a very popular site and ranks high on Google (etc.) but I was just wonder how many members have had inquiries as a result from people using the Balloon Twisters and Entertainers Directory.

Balloon modelling tutorial DVD's are not as popular as they once were due to video sharing sites such as Youtube and Expert Village. What are your thoughts? Perhaps you had been making  DVDs/videos but have now resorted to uploading them onto Youtube (etc.) and are now earning an income as a Youtube Partner (etc.).

Please let me know your thoughts. I look forward to your comments.

I am hoping to become a Youtube partner which can earn me an income from Google Adwords and affiliate sites which are linked from my Youtube channel.

I was wondering how many other members are making balloon modelling tutorial videos (etc.) and are uploading them onto their Youtube channel. Are you a Youtube partner or are you considering it?

Balloon Chit Chat / Balloon Busking
February 23, 2012, 12:53:39 AM
Many balloon twisters wouldn't be seen dead balloon busking. But what do you do for money when you don't have a booking? I've been balloon busking for ten years and I could make a living out of it without the hired work, though I wouldn't make much money.

Please Note: This topic is about balloon busking on the street and not working for tips or contributions at a venue (etc.).

Balloon Chit Chat / Born Again Balloon Artist
February 22, 2012, 04:24:35 PM
I am sorry for the comments I have given when responding to my posts and I promise in the future to behave professional.

I post two topics which were perhaps not explained very well and for that I am sorry. Some members have been unfair on their comments but I should be man enough to not be rude all the same.

I thank Graham for his support and giving me a chance to redeem myself. Balloon Chat is a great site and I'm sure most of the members are too. The reason I say most isn't a dig at those members who I have had or perhaps still have issues with but simply because I do not know these members myself. Some will not be nice people, but that's just life.

I shall be posting some pictures soon and I hope we can all be ' balloon buddies '.

Pleas accept my apologies and I look forward to the forum becoming happy again.

Balloon Chit Chat / Sorry From Daniel Twist
February 21, 2012, 12:25:35 PM
I would like to say I'm sorry for telling member to shut up. I have been rude at times but I have been provoked every time with unjust and rude comments.

Non of my subjects were offensive and yet people found them to be. This is because members have not read them properly which is wrong on their part and not mine. But I shouldn't tell them to shut up.

I was told my comment about the ' stigma ' was an insult to other men in the profession which is unfair and insulting to me.

I am not a troll but a professional balloon artist who wishes to use this forum and get the respect I would have given if those members had given me the same respect.

I admit I have been rude when replying to comments but those comments have been rude and have clearly known that those members have not understood my posts.

if you post a reply to a comment a member makes you should at least read it correctly so unfair replies are not given.

I know I'm telling members off here but this is also a sorry from me.

Thank you Graham for a GREAT WEBSITE and for ALL THEE FREE SERVICES you provide.

Balloon Chit Chat / Balloon Modelling Toys and Clothes
February 19, 2012, 02:28:37 PM
Wouldn't it be great if we could regularly twist our balloons whilst wearing a outfit made from modelling balloons without the worry that they will burst, usually by a member of the public - on purpose?

I have a solution and a great product (sorry just an idea, I haven't made it) which would be to good have on Dragon's Den. Outfits made to look like they were made from modelling balloons when in reality they are made from an non-inflated latex with something soft inside them. They wouldn't burst or go down so they would be perfect for all events.

And why stop at outfits? Parents could purchase ' balloon toys ' for their children.

The products wouldn't put balloon modellers out of business, so a win win for all involved.

However: Parents would have to explain to their children that the ' balloons 'are extra special and not like other balloon models, as others will go down and may also burst.

Balloon Chit Chat / Insulting To men
February 19, 2012, 02:40:39 AM
My comment about there being a ' stigma with men working with children ' is assaulting to other men, according to a member of the forum.

How is it? I'm only stating how a small majority of people think. Not offensive in any way.

I think people are reading more into my posts.

I'm all for balloon modellers giving their time to charity for free, I have done so on many occasions. Even making my balloon creations for donations and giving the proceeds (minus expenses) to the charity.

However, it is not right me to be excepted to work for free because its a charity event. I have to make a living.

Balloon Chit Chat / Balloon Tussauds
February 18, 2012, 12:44:15 AM
Hopefully the day will come when somebody invents modelling balloons which will last for many months or perhaps not pop or go down.

If this was possible and I had the funds I would open my own Balloon Tussauds. I don't think I need to explain what kind of business it would be.

Balloon Chit Chat / Affiliate Program
February 17, 2012, 09:10:02 PM
Just an idea. I have set up my site as an affiliate program, giving affiliates 15% commission from all paid bookings made via their affiliate site and by telephone (reference number).

They are given a free site which is a re-brand of //http://www.blackpoolballoonentertainer.co.uk
