Picture Gallery / Lion
August 02, 2020, 06:00:54 PM
I used to make a lot of Lions as my dad is involved with the Lions Charity. I have also got back into making tutorials on YouTube which I am enjoying doing. I have done some very basic tutorials and designs for those who are beyond the very basics.

So, getting back to balloons and using old stock. Black in particular does not age well and is then more prone to popping. I do like the chunky version a 350 gives compared to the 260. Made the beak a bit long on this occasion.

Welcome / Am I back?
July 04, 2020, 03:15:45 PM
I do hope everyone is well.
It has been quite some time since I have checked in and nearly as long since I have done any real twisting. I have a load of old and less than robust stock and hoping to start up again. This for me is a hobby and not a job - a form of relaxation/therapy.  I shall keep checking in and will be putting an order in at some point Graham.

It has been a long time since I have done balloons but my wife asked me to do something for her school who are having a pirate themed day. I still have a a couple of Brenion masks to make and will be making swords with the children on the day.

Balloon Chit Chat / Selling up
September 03, 2016, 03:43:23 PM
I have made the decision to sell my balloon stock after realising I have no time to run a business on the side. I am keeping a small amount to play with but am getting rid of the rest.
If anyone lives in the York area and can collect, I am selling what you see in the photos. Please PM with offers. There are 160s, 260s, 350s, 646s, 321s, rounds, foils, bubbles. All various quantities as seen.
I will still check in from time to time and thank Graham fro everything. I have truly enjoyed my time learning and making but must now focus on my real job.

I don't get much time for balloons recently but occasionally someone will ask me to make the, something. Here is a JCB I made today. I was quite pleased with how it turned out. There are always things that can be done differently but as a one off it will do.

Picture Gallery / Simple 350 sword
March 29, 2016, 09:25:38 PM
Well, as the saying goes, make hay while the sun is shining. I have the balloons out and so will play.
Someone on Facebook needed a simple boy balloon for a party that was robust. This is the 350 sword I do for boys. Big, impressive and sturdy.
Nothing earth shattering about it and something I am sure many have done or something similar anyway.

Picture Gallery / Lovely bird

I have been away from balloons for a while and whilst this is not a come back, I do keep looking in from time to time. I had time this week though to have a go and made a video tutorial for this bird (which I made a long time ago now).

Picture Gallery / Boxer
October 21, 2015, 01:21:32 PM
It has been ages since I got the balloons out. I don't seem to have much time these days. I was inspired by pictures Graham and Thelma posted yesterday and so came up with this boxer. Not great but at least I got to twisting.

Here was a recent bit of a turtle frenzy recently thanks to the release of a design by CJ Nelson. I purchased the video download from The Twisters Cook Book ($5) as I liked the design and could see me making this in the future. http://thetwisterscookbook.com/product/ ... ng-turtle/
The video is clear, well paced and easy to follow. The design itself is a real crowd pleaser and very obviously a Ninja Turtle.
All of the processes were simple enough for most twisters, though the balloons used may not be carried by everyone (larger rounds, 646,350).
I do not carry lime green in these sizes but did carry black so I used the techniques to create a black ninja. I later downsized the design (as suggested by CJ) making use of 5 inch round, 350, 260 and 160 to make a design that is awesome.
I did also use the same principals to make a tiny one from 160s.
The large version is very impressive and one that you will want to make.
The artwork on these is minimal which will please some of you out there.
My only difficulty with this download was getting it to play. This is not possible on an iPad or iPhone but when I moved to my laptop I had no problem downloading and playing with QuickTime.
I rate this design highly and recommend that you purchase it ASAP. A bargain at $5 (American).

Picture Gallery / Cat
August 04, 2015, 07:35:55 PM
I am playing with a cat design that is fairly easy to do. I have a few tweeks to make but in real life this looks quite cute. (A bit like Jess from Postman Pat)

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Butterfly tutorial
July 13, 2015, 10:11:50 AM
I have always struggled to find a decent butterfly that I can happily hand to someone and be proud of it. Here is a link to a YouTube tutorial I have done for one I am happy with. Use it if you like or adapt it, just enjoy creating.
