Picture Gallery / Quicklink caterpillar
July 09, 2015, 10:09:15 AM
Apart from the nose and eyes, this is made entirely out of quicklinks. The feet are a chain of quicklinks and then each pair is twisted together and then each balloon is effectively pinch twisted.

Picture Gallery / Pig head
July 07, 2015, 10:07:22 PM
I have been playing tonight and saw a pig head in something I ended up with. It is a 350 with 160 ears, a round for the eyes and a scrap of black. Ears and eyes are friction fitted

Balloon Chit Chat / Colour Quest competition
July 06, 2015, 07:48:58 PM
I have been practicing for the qualatex colour quest competition http://www.qualatex.com/color_quest/dow ... 15_RGB.pdf
This month it is coral but it is next month that I am going to try my hand at (wintergreen). Guess what my next order will be Graham?
I can't show it as that is a rule of the competition but I like it so far. A bit more work to be done on it though before I am happy.
I don't claim to be any where near as good as previous winners but I like having a go at stuff.

Picture Gallery / Church themed balloon idea
May 19, 2015, 04:36:17 PM
I am asked each year to do a church event for a few children who come to do activities but are not necessarily church goers. I thought this year as part of the afternoon we would do a talk about being part of a team and what makes up a good team. These suggestions get written onto the duplets. Each child/adult then holds a quicklink in a circle and I tie them together in a big chain. Continuing to refer to the team characteristics, I twist the bubbles together to make the cross, securing the balloons in place using the characteristics duplets. The end result is the cross and the idea that everyone works together as a team in the church/Christian faith/under God, etc.
Anyway, that's it. I hope some of you will get some inspiration from this.

Picture Gallery / Wrapping Wine bottles

Just made this on a live periscope broadcast. Was very nervous and typically the first balloon burst. Went ok in he end, despite obvious comments about the trunk (some people have dirty minds)

Picture Gallery / Big dino
May 12, 2015, 07:59:50 PM
Have seen a few of these lately (inspired by Buster) and thought I would have a go. But tricky to reverse engineer parts of this (need to get the back copy of Balloon Magic #63). Pleased enough though

I am organising a school quiz and one of the rounds is based on videos of staff doing challenges. Questions will be based on outcomes but also number of views, etc.
Please have a look and if inclined share it so that it becomes worthwhile. More silly challenges will follow in the next few weeks.

Thanks all

It is a small world in balloon terms and I was talking to a colleague at work today whose nephew (I think ) had made a ride inside balloon dinosaur. He is called Graham Reece (I think). He used to ride a penny farthing and deliver post on it.
Anyone know if he is a forum member or know of him?

Balloon Chit Chat / Periscope
April 23, 2015, 09:43:35 PM
I have been experimenting with the new periscope app from Twitter. Basically it is live broadcasts you make. Followers can tune in but so can anyone else. You can then save the broadcast for replay viewing by anyone for a day or do before it goes. I have made a few balloon creations live and they went ok. One 350 yellow burst on me but hey ho.
Apparently it is going to be the next big thing in social media/marketing. I don't really see it yet but who am I to argue with the boffins?
If you want to see me do a broadcast and make your own mind up, you can follow me @airwithatwist on Twitter and periscope (I think you can view from a PC if you don't have the app but not sure).
Anyway, for those into online marketing, this might be something to consider (I am told)

Balloon Decor / Heart frame
April 15, 2015, 01:51:27 PM
I bought cheap flexible heart frames (they are flexible plastic with spaces for five inch balloons.
I struggled to get them to stay put as individual balloons so tied together before inserting. I did his two ways. One was just push the duplex into the hole so one balloon was on one side and one on the other. This is the version that I would trust to stay together.
The second way was to push the Dulles throught two holes so that they locked around the frame (if that makes sense) I ended up tying them in threes and twisting two of the three together once push through the holes. This looked ok but the flexible frame curled a bit.
I then pushed each balloon back into the plastic hole to be held by friction. This gave the nicest look but I would trust this the least to stay together.
The two frames were about £5 the pair.
Anyone else worked with these and come up with better solution?

Picture Gallery / River jump
April 12, 2015, 09:20:02 PM
A family member jumped in a very cold river this weekend in the Lake District (just for fun and our amusement). I thought I would make a balloon of the occasion).

Picture Gallery / First dress
April 01, 2015, 05:09:55 PM
I ordered some 160s off Graham the other day for the sole purpose of making a dress. This is my first attempt (I borrowed a dress form from school). I am really pleased with the way it has turned out. I need to figure out how things work a bit better at the back (at the top) as it leaves a bit to be desired at the moment but further down it worked well so may need to replicate that for the top of the back.
Either way, really pleased but don't think I know anyone willing to try it on.  :(

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Paw Patrol Free Tutorial
March 28, 2015, 02:27:34 PM
Hi all, here is the link to part one of my Paw Patrol tutorial. You can then link to part 2 by viewing my other videos. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5v2uT9w1EjM
Part one is the base module for all of the dogs and so the most important. Part two is simply me making a hash of a dog head. I did the whole thing in one take. I would have liked the head to have been slightly bigger but overall not bad.

Picture Gallery / Paw Patrol
March 21, 2015, 04:22:30 PM
Someone on facebook was asking for he,p with a Paw Patrol design. My girls watch it so at least I had a head start. I decided to have a go and was pleased with the outcome. It uses 4 350s for the legs and body. 4 260s for the toes, tail and head, a 260 and 5 inch quicklink for the hat, 5 inch round for the eyes plus scraps for nose and pupils.
