I get asked to do models I can't do, as I'm sure it's the same for all of us, right? At one birthday party everthing was going pretty well, then a young lad came up & asked for an Axolotls. Oh dear take a look at this link http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1& ... ls&spell=1 (http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Axolotls&spell=1)
Pretty ugly..the lizard not me
Can anyone make this by the way?
What weird requests have you been asked?
steve
AXOLOTL???
I thought he was the lead singer of Guns and Roses :D
Weirdest request I have ever had, was to make the "Playboy" bunny out of balloons!!...
Can help you with that one chubbz!
I don't have a picture but if you take a pink or white heart and either raisin twist or make a bubble in one of the lobes you can attach some 260 ears. Tie a 160 bow to the neck via pinch twist, draw a couple of eyes and you have a playboy bunny!
The funniest thing I got caught with was A: a Henry (which turned out to be the hoover with smiley face) and B: a hedgehog.

I was doing a gig last night and got asked for a screwdriver and a pig wearing a hat? I did them but makes you think it dont mater how many dvds or books you have you will allways get asked for some thing new
Isn't that the truth.
today some one asked me for a spanner you just have to think why?

Perhaps they were nuts?
Perhaps they were a chav and wanted to nick some wheels
I was asked for an Aston Martin
I said I couldn't do one there and then but could manage a Harley :o , they thought that was way cool :)
Me and a friend today were balloon modelling and she got asked for a castle!
Instead she did the flowers that grew in the castle - which the child accepted!

Thats a good idea actually, if you get a weird request, i've asked them to hang on, do a model & say that it's ******* (whatever they've asked for) in disguise. They seem to accept that as well.....or give you a strange look. :)
I was askerd for 2 bizarre things on the same afternoon.
The first, a little boy, come to me and ask me: "please, can you make a blue duck?" I said yes, then I do the blue body for the duck (the hat of Mark Byrne) and ask him "If the body is blue, which color is the beak?" He looks me as if it was an evidence and say "orange!!". I felt stupid for a moment and say "Yes, I'm stupid, if the body is blue, it's normal that the beak is orange, ha ha ha!!!"
The second, for those who watch the football french championship, a grandma asked me for the symbol of OM (Olympique of Marseille). But I don't watch football, i don't like that, and I said "What is it look like?" She said "a white O with a blue M inside". Then I did my best to make something looks like she wanted.
I got asked for a red duck today lol
Pamela Anderson. I had to tell the person asking that I didn't have big enough balloons. Hehe. But it did really happen, and that was my quick wit reply.
I got hired through my agent once for a clown job in central London a few years back, and it was supposed to be a for a birthday party. Something got crossed by the hirer, and it turned out it was for an adult crowd. Anyway, I ended up making some pretty X-rated balloons that night. I won't mention what here, but had to flow with the show, after travel time, cost of travel, and getting all dressed up for the occasion etc. Just had to tell the misses when I got home that it was a nice birthday party. HA!
You know you should have stayed home when you are barely adequate as a twister and your first request is for a hyena and the next table asks for a platypus ! My first thought was to phone call to Bonnie !
LOL qwinckly I know the feeling - my first request on Sunday was for a Wolf - I got away with making a version of Ken Stilmans speed twisting head and adding fangs ala Patricia Bunnings sabre tooth tiger - no picture I'm afraid but I shall have to try and recreate it and post it
Oh I have often strange demand on balloon.
Someone asked me a joystick. (I made that)
One day a child asked me a chicken ! I said : "Don't you want a duck in place, it's more beautiful", and the child said OK !
Another day, I make a spiderman for a child, another said : "Do you want to make me batman". I had not the balloon to do that so I simply said : "Sorry, batman has gone on hollidays !"
the other day i got asked for a rabbit head on a dogs body
and then yesterday i got stuck making hammers
I got asked for a rocket yesterday - so out came a 646! I added 160 flames and art work with his name "Harry 1" on the side. He was pleased, & so was I.
I often boast that I have never had a request I could not do, and this is true. This brings up some weird requests from people trying to challenge my skill. Trying to remember some of the weirder ones, I have made: A hot dog with ketchup and mustard, a twin towers hat (pre 9/11), a bikini for a girl, a sweater for a girl, a bra (all clothing is wearable and fitted), Ronald Reagan, Madona, the person asking for the balloon on a few occasions, a beautiful woman for a man with his wife, a girlfriend for a boy with his girlfriend, a wolverine from x-men slashing through a football(soccer for anyone not in the us) for a game that took more than 100 balloons, a liger, unicorn, skunk, the Olympic symbols, a shark eating a man and many more I'm sure. I think the weirdest one of all would have to be a toilet though, especially because I was making balloons at a restaurant.
All of these request I made up on the spot and to the satisfaction of the customer, usually I just get "wow, you really can make anything".
I got a strange request yesterday! A little boy asked for..........Garlic!
After I made sure I heard correctly and got over the surprise, I made him a garlic bulb from a white round with 160 leaves sprouting out of the top and drew on a smiley face. He loved it and so did his parents!
You just never know what you are going to get asked for
Twistina
I was asked for a penguin the other wekend, but one with green plumage, yellow chest and eyes and pink beak and feet ................ that was fairly weird :o

What is so weird about that?
I got asked for a lettuice once! I couldnt think of how to do one so I made a carrot for them! (sorry about my spelling)

Hi Mark,
What a great castle!!!
Petra
Two sand crabs reading a book. Yep, that's what the little kid asked for. He got it too....
A lamp post easy to make but a bit wierd as it was for a 8yr old who likes lamp posts?
A snake that has swallowed a hammer
A foot
A rabid jack Russell
I got asked for a fire hydrant. It didn't turn out half bad... the people at least recognized it as one :o) The boy and his grandmother count them when they are driving around. I have no idea what their obsession is with fire hydrants!
I was asked to do ... fire. But since I was twisting at the public library I told the kid that the books are inflamable and I couldn't make it because of health and safet regulations... :)
I had a strange one, a kid wanted a gear stick!!!! He told me he needed 6 gears and reverse, he was so happy!! Kids huh!!!
lol...it's funny what some kids will ask for.
I've been asked to make a bowl of mashed potatoes with a spoon, an alligator with antlers, a trampoline (that was hard!), and regular requests for body parts from one of my regulars (kidney, spleen, heart, brain, spine etc.). Pretty weird.
Sorry I saw this post and just had to reply! We get a lot of strange requests for deliveries. The pig farmer giving a pig a shot in the rump comes to mind. Or the life size man in a speedo riding a bicycle and wearing running shoes and a stethoscope (he was a doctor who was also a triathlete).... or the 6 foot turkey with a mohawk, earring, and orange sneakers. That one was for a fundraiser walk/run on Thanksgiving Day. I should post some photos if I can figure out how to resize them. The most unusual line work request? Probably the mosquito! I started at the back of the balloon and left the puffed end for the nose. The boy who asked for it was thrilled, and mom and dad asked for our card after seing me make it!
I was asked to make a stethoscope at a party I did a couple of weeks ago
These are fantastic! I once was at a show and a child asked the man to make him a coffee machine...
This thread has just made my day! I am in total awe of all you guys who can conjure something up on the spot. I'm off out fishing now, but when I get back, I'm getting practicing!
Also, would it be a fun idea to have a 'request thread'? Where forum members can ask for a certain thing to be made?!!
I know I got asked for an odd one the other day, but I cant recall.. maybe a skyscraper or something.. but the oddest one from years ago I CAN remember, would be when a little 6 year old looked at me, and said "I wanna Hyena dancing onna mountain top!"
I'll wager it was something to do with the lion king. It was big back then.
