Business has been booming these past few months and I am in talks to make a lifesize balloon elephant for a corporate gig. It is in March so i have all the time in the world to plan it but I was wondering what you guys thought.

I am planning a body of 646s and a head with a mix bag of all shapes. I think I will uses the elephant trunk that Don... sorry Buster Balloon uses.

For his legs i really want one of them to be standing on a ball which would most likely be a 3 foot round (globe print?) I have never worked to such a scale but I know that this will require some PVC. The 3 ground legs will be supported by PVC and have clustered rounds as feet building up the leg with 646s into a thigh.

What do you guys think? I know it is a bit vague but it works in my head just fine ha. Is there anything you can suggest I do. I am open to all suggestions. I will have one inexperienced helper (blowing up and tying) so I am not really that worried about the work it is all just looks and stability here.

Thanks,
Dylan

Hi Dylan,

although I have no experience of constructing large scale balloon sculptures, I have seen lots made at TMJ conventions.

So my only advice is leave plenty of time to construct it and have lots of balloons.

Also its the detail that really kills. So can you incorporate some logo or something of the company its for, maybe the elephant is holding it in the trunk. What does the company do or make? Perhaps that can inspire you.

Its a long way off - so I look forward to seeing the photos next year!

best wishes
Danny

Good advice here. The corporation I am working for helps support and fund small businesses (which is how we met in the first place) The idea of working in their logo is a fantastic one. I have it on the calender to attend Twist & Shout this coming year so hopefully I can get more hands on experience and the opportunity to make a test elephant.

I must say that is a really nice bike. I am not sure i want to use so much internal structure as I kind of enjoy going more for the purity of it but it is still great information to have. Who knows? Plans may change.
