February Model of the Month (Pterodactyl)
« on: February 01, 2020, 10:42:46 AM »
This month we are going with a Dinosaur theme and having the Pterodactyl
as the model of the month for February.

On the original design I did have feet and legs but I have been making this a lot over
the past couple of weekends and no one has said anything so I have streamlined
the design to have no legs. I have also on occasion put onto a clear 260
stick so they can fly the design around which was also very popular.

The first picture you can just make out the feet, the tail was made from the
remainder of the feet balloon and I only used one 260 for the wings.
Now I use two 260 to make the wings so much bigger
and use the ends of these for the tail.

Packed in with all orders this month being sent out will be the
complimentary pack of balloons to make the design.

It would be nice to see a few being made if you get the time.

I will try and write up the instructions ASAP.

Here we go then, to make the Pterodactyl you need,
Two 350's Lime, two 260's Lime and a scrap of 260 White

Inflate the 350 leaving 4 fingers un inflated, make an 8 finger
bubble followed by two 3 finger pinch twists.

You then need a 6 finger bubble and an 8 finger bubble twisted back into the two pinch twists.
The 6 finger bubble is the top of the head and the 8 finger bubble the lower section.

The rest of the 350 will be the neck.

Inflate your second 350 lime to approx. 3/4 fingers un-inflated,
make two 3 finger pinch twists.

The body is an 8 finger bubble followed by a 3 finger pinch twist.
Then another 8 finger bubble twisted into the two pinch twists.

Make a 10 finger bubble for the curved under body section and twist
into the single back pinch twist, discard the rest of the balloon.

Make a 3 finger bubble in the first 350 at the lower end of the neck
and twist this bubble into the two pinch twists on the body 350.

Inflate both 260 lime leaving a 1 finger un-inflated in both balloons.
Push the air to the end in both 260's to make slightly softer.

Twist both of the ends of these 260's together with an 8 finger
bubble for the tail of the Pterodactyl.

Twist them both into the single pinch twist at the rear of the body 350.

Tie both 260's together and twist them into the two pinch twists at the front of the body.

Split the wing section into two, on mine the smaller back wing
section was between a 16/20 finer bubble.
This depends on how you would like the wing shape to look.

If you shock twist the wings it will give them some shape for movement.

Inflate the white 260 to a 4 finger bubble, split into two
and make two 2 finger pinch twists for the eyes.

Attach the eyes to the front of the two pinch twists on the first 350.
Add some artwork and there is your Pterodactyl.

Hope its of some use, as I said I have been making these at a Dino
park that I have been working and they have been very popular.
Especially by adding a clear 260 to the two pinch twists
on the body so they can make the Pterodactyl fly.
