Ok, as an adult who has limited free time but wants to keep learning new stuff, I would like to consider adding some magic to my skill base.
My question is, what do you all suggest as the must have for an adult starting out who does not have easy access or time to others (so written material/dvd/sets)
I would like to avoid the kids sets you see in toy shops but guess if that is what you come up with...
Thanks

What sort of magic do you want to learn?

I was hoping to learn magic that I could do at school or at parties, so that I could, at some point, consider offering it as an addition to the balloons (to make myself more marketable for parties). Again, there is no real rush as this is not going to become my full time job (yet) but I do like to learn and develop new skills.

I have trawled a few magic sites and there are some good looking tricks for children but a number have a heavyish price tag. If you could choose one or two tricks to perform for a group of children, what would be your recommendations please?

I do a full 15 minute routine with a thumb tip, you can buy them for £2 but good ones are a little more, I made all the other bits that go with it, the silks and various stuff like that.

I also do a colouring in routine, this I made myself from a couple of old photo frames and a laminator, goes down a treat and it can be made to fit different themes, mine does a wizard theme (dragon), Pirate theme (parrot), a christmas theme (tree), a Halloween theme (Monster) and an Easter theme (Egg).

What I am saying here is that most of the stuff I use in my regular show is made by myself, all that stuff I spent money on sits at home doing nothing, Why? its not that its rubbish, no, its because it doesn't suit me or my act.
