I am just home from a really excellent balloon event near Paris, I had such a fun time and took lots of photos so will be uploading them very soon.

So I arrived on the Monday evening and did a bit of twisting in the Jam room and chatting with various people, Orion made this little dog so I had a go myself.

I was up to my usual thing of making mini people, and here is the lovely house I stayed at with Jean (a magician) from Guatemala, Svetlana from the Ukraine, Steven Atkeson an American from Belgium, and Geneviève from France and Bastian from France, It was a very international house.

On the Tuesday I started my day by building a dinosaur,
then I was lucky to receive some gifts from Peru and Guatemala.
Then it was on to the Competition, a 4 hour time limit to create something in the theme of fantasy. Here is my Troll, a self portrait.

More from the competition, the idea was to make things which could be used in the final parade, so they had to be big.

Steven with his fairy, and Svetlana from the Ukraine with her big bird (the winner)

The last one I had from the competition,

Back to the Jam room, I really liked the little clown.

On Wednesday morning we were treated to a balloon workshop by Mexican entertainer and Clown Jobito Globito, he was an excellent twister and entertainer and although he only spoke Spanish we had good translators.

After that we were onto Big birds under instruction from Bidou Charlot

and then Monster heads under instruction from Morgan Buisseret

The King sculpture from made from one of the German ladies

I was asked by Svetlana to help out with her big build, it was the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, we had fun as neither of us could speak the other persons language.

magirob

Svetlana and I worked on the Caterpillar until well into the night, there was also a dragon being built by Maxime and his team

magirob

On /thursday it was time for a few Workshops, first of all Svetlana took us through this Parrot/cockatiel

magirob

Last one from Svetlanas group and then it was my turn to do talk entitled 'how I became Rob Driscoll'

More from my workshop, thanks to Joelle for letting me use the photos too.

I also had a go at making this 3 balloon weave, the silver thing in the centre was totally unrelated (it was part of a roman Helmet I was making) but everyone seemed to think it belonged in the middle of the weave so thats where it stayed,

The next event was a performance and workshop was from Paul Suarez AKA Plumerito de Caprio all the way from Peru, what can I say, what an amazing act, I loved everything he did and he was hilarious, and such a nice guy as well
