Hi, it wasnt that difficult once id worked it out. Its quite stable. I tried all sorts of ways and even fell asleep with my hands holding onto the twists.
When i finally got the head right i thought i was on easy street but disaster, i couldnt make the dungarees so i put a dress on her instead. Incidentally if anyone knows how to make fifis dungarees to post on here. That would complete things, mind you theres other sweet little characters who are friends of Fifi. I think i will leave that to someone else.
Thankyou for your kind words of praise  :)

Mandy,

I love ur fifi it is amazing, i would love to learn to make that.

of course i will tell you how i made the head, just give me a day to work out some instructions.
tell you what, ive got to make this on the 1st of june so i will get the old man to take some pics to put with the words.
I can say that i used

one q pearl ivory 5" round
two q pale blue 260s
one pastel yellow (160 i think) for the nose
three s white 160s
one s pastel pearl green 160

sparkly powder (i use bronze but pink would look better)blusher and a cotton wool pad

well despite leaving the batteries on charge overnight, the camera was still flat.
So ive had to write it out long hand and i will apologise beforehand if it seems to drone on.

Fifis Head
I have used Thelma Levetts design for the nose.

take the 5" round and inflate it but dont tie, mark a dot where you want the nose to be ( i found it best just below where you would normally put a nose, to make room for that head band she needs a big forehead), deflate and and turn the balloon inside out.

Inflate the tip end (1 1/2") of a lemon 160 and tie a knot, place this inside the round balloon.
This is the nose.

Inflate the round balloon but dont tie, just hold between fingers. Line the dot up with the knot of the nose bubble and pinch hold of the knot through the balloon, deflate still holding the knot and tie tightly with a piece of scrap 160.

Turn the balloon the right way out, yes youve got to get that nose bubble out too.
Insert two raisins and inflate the 5" round till its nice and rounded, now you can tie the nozzle.

so now youve got a 5inch round with a nose and two raisins rattling around inside.

the next bit is a bit bitty but i couldnt figure a better way.
inflate a blue 260 to 5" , create a loop twist, tie off and cut. Make 5 or 6 of these blue loops.
inflate a white 160 to 2" , soften, knot and cut. Make 5 or 6 of these white bubbles.

take a white bubble, push one loose end through the loop, bring it down and around to tie with the other end of the white bubble,so it sits just inside the blue loop.

do this with the other loops and bubbles and lay them out ready.
inflate two white 160s leaving around 6" uninflated, tie the nozzles together.

take the head, line up a raisin where you want an ear and grab the raisin, wrapping the knot of the two white 160s tightly around the bump.

so now youve attached the two white 160s to the side of the head.
For the more advanced i can say that its a series of lock twists with the loops attached at each cross.

anyway make a 1/2 inch bubble in both white balloons and lock twist. Take the first blue loop and attach by winding the loose end around where the balloons cross.
make a 1 inch bubble in both white 160s and lock twist, attach the next blue loop.

continue until you have all the loops attached, then make a 1/2inch bubble in both white balloons, line up the 2nd raisin where you want the other ear and wrap the white balloons tightly around the bump, cut off the excess. You may have to stretch the whole headband slightly to reach the other ear but dont force it, just add another blue loop.

Inflate a pale green 160 and leave a 4 inch tail. Attach to one of the ear points and take it around the forehead, bending slightly to fit, to the other ear point and attach.
Go around the back of the headband the same fashion and attach to first ear again.

take the green down to the nozzle of the 5" balloon and attach, take the green up the other side and attach to the ear. Ease the two bands of green on either side of the headband, together, pushing gently. Arrange the loops nicely so they are all sitting up to attention.

(I have found that using the two white 160s makes the blue loops sit better than just using one, and they dont roll about.)

Make two separate tiny loop twists with the lemon 160 and lash to the ear points, these form the ears.

I think thats about it apart from the artwork. Anything not clear please ask me.

thankyou, ive got just a couple of pics of the head being made if anyone is interested i can email them to you. I cant seem to upload on here???

On reflection, i could have made her nose a bit smaller and i forgot to give her eyelashes, her ears could have been more pronounced and the green headband didnt need to go all around her face and i forgot the artwork on her shoes :geek:
