Title: Posting pictures and re-sizing on the forum
Post by: Graham Lee on December 07, 2009, 12:27:14 PM
The maximum size of picture for the forum is 480mm wide and 600mm high.
I use a free downlaodable programme called Irfanview which seems nice and easy to use; http://www.irfanview.net/ (http://www.irfanview.net/)

There is also another thread which may help as well; viewtopic.php?f=21&t=35 (http://balloonchat.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=35)

If you go to edit post and then where you add a file you can also delete the file which will take the picture off the forum.

When you write the post, scroll down the page and there is a "browse" button, hit that and then from your folders choose which picture you wish to upload.
When you have found the picture double click on it and then hit the "submit" button.

GREAT NEWS

I do believe we may have cracked it, the forum has been updated with the latest version pf phpbb which is the template it runs on and I have had an app fitted that will automatically re-size the pictures as you upload it so you do not have to resize them :) :D We did have this done before and it sort of worked so here is hoping this makes it so much easier for everyone else to put pictures onto the forum.

I loaded up two pictures OK and then hit a problem with the third so it may still be a work in progress  :(

Hmm, I still had to resize a photo to get it on here, how odd it works sometimes.

Maybe it has something to do with landscape and portrait, off to try to different styles to see what happens.

Many thanks to those who posted here the competition entries, I will move them over to the proper thread. The competition was judged by three people from the balloon day in Bristol and I have to say sorry but these were not judged as we forgot they were under the wrong thread. It was a very busy day, we were hoping to get maybe 30 people attending and had 48, so it was very very busy. We particularly liked the elephant seal and I think that may have been a contender.

First I would suggest trying to post a picture without re-sizing, sometimes it works, we are looking into this again.

If you have to re-size then the first post on this thread has the links on how to do this, on my computer this is how I get the pictures onto a post but it might be different with your Samsung galaxy note 3

When you write the post, scroll down the page and there is a "browse" button, hit that and then from your folders choose which picture you wish to upload.
When you have found the picture double click on it and then hit the "submit" button.

Does anyone re-size pictures on your phone? Kim is trying to add the panda to the competition and is struggling.
I always re-size via my computer.

My phone resizes things in-house (so to speak), from my gallery I can crop and resize actually on my phone, otherwise I am sure there is an app to help, let me look . . .

Hello.
Thanks for that Rob, I will look at that one! I did manage to find another app today that seemed to do the job, I'm not sure how though?! Haha! But I haven't actually uploaded TWO photos now....so must be doing something right!!
I am always on facebook and "put my hands up" that I don't use balloon chat as much as I should.....as there is so much cool stuff on here! Now I can finally upload a photo.....I want to try and use it more!!!
As I only ever use my phone to go online....is there an easier way to see everything on balloon chat or is it a case of having to zoom in?
