with the avatar instead of compressing it re size it, if you right click the image then "edit" then "re size" you will see 2 boxes side by side the 1st box put 480 the 2nd 280 then "OK" don't forget to save, if you need the same image for other thing but not that size click "file" then "save as" and change the name of file. hope this helps

Kath,
thanks for your kind offer to re-size the picture for me.
I think I need to struggle around to find out how to do it if I'm ever going
to sort out this forum.
Although I was thinking of asking Wim to run the forum for me as he has experience with this type of site,
but that would be the easy & lazy way to go for me.
There must be an instruction manuel within the site, but I cant even find that.

Dave,
I tried to resize but the picture after I click on edit goes into paint application when I right click again?
Just another mystery to me.

I can set it up for you so you only have to manage it after that. In that way you would have a frame, quickly set up and you can adjust it to your needs in time.
No problem.

About resizing, I am not quite sure what you want but I think this is what you mean. A file (in this case a picture with the extension jpg) is coupled to a program. That means if you double click it the program that is coupled to it will open it.
This process can be done for any program you have, but only once. Example, if you have Photoshop and double click this picture opens in Photoshop. If you have nothing and double clicks, this file opens in Windows fax and picture viewer. Same goes for things like edit etc.
You can only couple 1 program to a file. That means that if you open a file it can be that it opens in a completely different program then Dave's computer or mine.

Here is a small story I wrote for another forum about how to easily resize pictures. If you have another method that is fine, this is for people who have problems resizing:
There is a program that is freeware and easy to use, it just resizes and rotates the image (if that's in the header (EX IF) information)
No buttons, just drop and drag images (Not counting the exit and options button)
You can find it here: //http://adionsoft.net/fastimageresize/
There is on line documentation but I doubt that you'll need it. //http://adionsoft.net/fastimageresize/documentation.php

If you installed it you can right click on an image, go to "send to" and choose "fast image resize" The program makes a folder in the same folder the picture is, called resized and in that folder there is the resized picture.
That is it, simple as that.

I hope it can be of use to you.

LOL.
You have used the same picture again. That original one is smaller so you enlarge the picture. That is why the copy quality is so bad......

Well the size is better, if not the quality.
I'm thinking Mark only lives 15 minutes away,
I may have to ask him over to help.

I think you do just fine.
I emailed you a manual of how to do it step by step.
But if I look at the things you post it looks to me that you resize the pictures to a bigger size instead a smaller size. And then the picture quality goes down the drain.
If the picture is smaller then 480x600, don't resize!
Only if it's bigger.
In the manual I send you I show you how you can see the actual size.
