Title: Rhino
Post by: Graham Lee on December 15, 2017, 05:42:14 PM
I was working with a few other twisters for the film premier Jumanji and
one of the animals we were asked to make was a rhino.

So not a problem as I have a rhino that I can make,
so when I arrived there was crofty making a really nice rhino with a
looped front for the horn to sit. So I made my old body style and put
David's face design onto it.

I then came home and had a play with a few variations.

This is my old Rhino and the one David was making.

This is the rhino I was making at the event.
It was quick to make and fun at the same time.
I enjoyed twisting next to crofty, we had a laugh,
fingers crossed the punters did as well.

The advantage of David's rhino was the grey was just one balloon.

So last week I had a play about with a few ideas for the rhino.
The eyes did not look right inflated and in the position they could fit naturally.
Looked better drawn on.

I then tried a 160 for the mouth section with 260 for the body.
I made version two with a larger bottom mouth section which I think worked better.

Then for some reason I tried the teddy bear mouth structure for the rhino.
I thought it needed to be bulkier than in the picture, it was just from one balloon.

I wanted the look of the face to be much chunkier than on picture 5 above.
So we doubled up the face structure.

Then all the designs together.

I was still playing last week with the rhino design.
I like the front section of the head and the body.
It needs a little work on the neck and top section
of head, needs to ne a little chunkier.

I was trying to upscale my one balloon Rhino that is on BalloonTube.

Making from 350's, the face was too thin on the first Rhino.

So made with a tulip twist right up to the ears made for a larger more proportioned looking face, well I thought so  ;)

I tried to bulk him out a little, the neck area looks too busy now.
