I want to see if I have received a PM. So I installed the option that I get an email if someone sends me a PM. But I also wanted to have a pop-up when I visit the forum that I have a PM waiting for me.
Here is the option you need to select in the User Control Panel (link at top right corner)

Second tip:

How does the PM work?
I send someone a PM and it is stil in my outbox, why is it there? Why is it not in the sending messages box?

As usual this answer stands in the manual.

Just a tip if writing out a long post is too write it in word document where you can also use spell checker, then copy & paste onto the forum.
