A while ago I was watching a load of "Saw" DVDs, and decided to have a go at Jigsaw, the doll from the films.  saw-t10427.html

On the same theme of killer dolls, I saw a model of Chucky from the "Childsplay" films posted by PTurner, (who has some great sculptures) so I thought I would have a go.

Here is how he turned out ......

Usually I make a stork standing up, as in the first pic, but was asked for something smaller as the family were travelling in a very loaded up car for the birth of their first grandchild

I came up with the idea of doing basically the same thing, as they liked the design, but having the stork sitting in a nest, to make it more manageable.

I first made it with a different head, but did not like it, so a quick bit of surgery changed it to my usual design which I like a lot better

The flower I made pink and blue, and the basket lilac, as they did not know whether it would be a boy or girl

I did the Queen a while ago, but not in such facial detail. Congratulations to Her Majesty, two years younger than me (or how I feel more recently   )

Hi Kenny,

Hope you are well, and glad you like my pics.... I look forward to seeing how your board looks when it is done  :D  :D

Just for completeness, I found a couple of pics of the back.

The board is a large photo clip frame, with a Perspex front which I got from Wilco's for about £8.00. To protect the edges, I got some aluminium angle from B & Q, which I bolted round the outside. As it is bolted on, it is not too difficult to take off and remove the Perspex to change the photos.I then put some elastic loops along the top to hold balloons, and a hook to hang a small plastic bin to put discarded scraps in. You can also see in the bottom corner, I fixed with Velcro a business card holder, so people can take a card without having to stop me and ask.

This was then mounted onto a metal artists easel, with telescopic legs, which I bought from a local art shop. The easel was bolted on, with the front two legs extending just about half an inch over the bottom of the frame, so I can either lean it up against something, with the legs unextended, or have it freestanding. (The legs have rubber ends, which stop the metal frame sliding if I am on a tiled, or smooth floor, like in a shopping centre )

Hope this is useful for someone......sorry I did not complete the description sooner

Just a little update. You asked to see some models, so I put some of the main ones I do in a thread on the pictures gallery.

I have a board on a stand when I am out, and I find it best works if I have the board about six feet further down the line than I am. This means that I am entertaining my little group, and further down the line, they are entertaining themselves looking at the pics and choosing what they want.

This means when they get to me, they know what they want, and it keeps the line flowing, and if the line flows well, everyone is happy
 :D

I do apologise that this will be a long line of pics, but hey ho, here we go.

These are the pics from my board, they are awesome and efficient, and thank you to all who have made these designs possible, mainly two fabulous ladies, Thelma and Christine. Love ya xx

PS.   I find it easier that everything is the same price, and I tend to judge my prices on a par with any face painters I work with, and we keep our prices more or less level.

Hi Jay,

The first thing I would say is that you have the awesome attitude that you want to make nice things, and that will separate you from the one balloon swords and dogs that a lot of chancers turn up at events and do. Quality will always win, and if you are making nice things, people will wait for them.

As Rob says, you do have to keep an eye on your crowd, and keep them engaged, just by talking, and throwing a few comments out. Just be nice and talk to people. They will be fascinated watching you anyway, and silly stuff like handing the balloon that flies off is entertaining, but don't give it to the person you are making the balloon for, hand it to someone a bit further down the line. that spreads your entertainment aura that much wider.

As far as balloons you make, I love that you are making quality balloons, but make sure you can make them confidently, and efficiently. It is far better, in my opinion, to have a small range of models that you can do well, and add to them as your confidence grows.

I do wish you well, and there is nothing like getting out there and doing it. Go for it !!!!
