Hi Graham,
will you finally offer free shipping for a short period? If yes is shipping to Germany also free of charge?

Will there be something like a discount/special offer/starting sale when you release it?
And any ideas about the price yet?

I also contacted this seller (some weeks ago) if those (Gilbert Adams) are all originals!

Here the answer within ebay:

-----

Yes, all genuine.

I have multiples of Gilbert's DVDs as I supply them in the UK on his behalf.
Any other DVDs are ones I have bought and no longer require.

Hope that is helpful

I can confirm that he had a "Mr Rainbow - Cartoonie Balloonies" DVD for sale - but only once.

One more thing I want to throw in (I forgot to mention above):
It seems to be a general problem if it is right or wrong to re-sell media of any kind (digital and printed). Books, newpapers, magazines, videos, music, downloads, ebooks...

When you sell your trousers or your bike they are gone and you can't use them any more. But how could it be categorized/valued to use information, knowledge, ideas, creativity you got from the media... Not possible IMO!

My post don't answer this question but will add some more.

I can only speak for myself. I am doing this (balloon twisting) "just" as a hobby and not for profit. I do the models only for my children and the children in the neighborhood (and sometimes at events at the Kindergarden). So no income with balloon modelling.

Question in my case:
Is it wrong to buy used copies? I don't think so. Is it wrong to sell DVDs? I don't think so either. These days everybody is selling everything. That's the reason why is ebay still alive!

Question in general:
Is it wrong to sell DVDs while still using the ideas on there? The same question that is related to twisting we could ask and should answer for magic tricks. Is it okay to sell magical DVDs and still use the trick in a performance? What if you are taking the models and modify them? Should you really need to keep the DVD?
Or perhaps the people pay for your performance (because you are a good entertainer) and not just for the models you are making? What's in this case?!?
And is there a difference about technique and design? Think of a DVD about the "Classic Force" (or any other sleight of hand). Someday you have mastered it. Should you always keep the material you've learned from? That's the technique. Now you have a DVD about a routine. Keep it or sell it? That's the design. Same principle can be adapted to balloon twisting but very hard to answer.

Let's take another example:
What if you buy a how-to-book (e.g. "How to speak in public" or "How to start a business" or "How to build bird cages"). You learn the content, practice and use it (in daily life). Is it wrong to sell this book after you've finished reading? Is it wrong to use this knowledge without owning this book? It this even possible to "forget" and not using the content?
And finally: Is there a difference between this example and balloon models/magic? And if so where is the difference? Main difference could be: Do you earn money with the content or not. But is this the one and only criteria?
What if you start creating and selling "bird cages". Do you need to have the book to do so?

Now let's turn it around:
What if you buy a DVD (or a book or an ebook) with some models (or magic tricks) and you don't like and use them? What if they don't fit your style? You have paid for it but (for you) the content is useless. Is it right to sell it to someone else?
I mean in this case the producer could sell it two times and get more profit. So I think in the eyes of the producer this may be wrong also!

That leads me to another one:
If we call it "wrong" to sell DVDs you are using models from shouldn't it be "right" to give a customer the chance to give the DVD back to the seller and get a refund if he/she don't like and use the content? But how can we proof that?

Last but not least:
How should we react here in this forum. Is it allowed to offer and sell used DVDs here? Or is it against the "twisters rules"?

Bottom line:
Many questions but no answers. It seems that all depends on the sight of view. For the producer it may be wrong to sell any DVD second hand because this decreases the profit! For the "non-user" of the content it may be right because he don't use the stuff! For the "user" it may be right because (for example) he needs the money! I think everybody has to find an answer for himself/herself. There is no (and could be no) general answer!

My opinion:
It all depends on confidence, respect and a point of honor to the creator. I only can speak theoretically but If I had a balloon business and if I would use some models (and they are my bestsellers) wouldn't it be the best way to send some money directly to the creator of those model to give them your support and a THANK YOU? Perhaps I see those things through rose-colored glasses. But perhaps this is also a solution to think about.

Finally I want to say that I am a collector and I want to buy/trade and keep the Buster Balloon set (which was the reason to start this topic) and add it to my "twisting library".

Best,
CK

I have taken the list down for the moment but may be persuaded to put it back up. I have asked a question on a different thread on the rights and wrongs of selling on and trading DVD's.
