Excellent review.  Recently, on FB someone posted this shark made with 350s and it is stunning when upscaled.

Thanks Darren for the review.  To everyone else, I apologize for the interruption in service.  A few days after Easter I transferred TCB to a different host and now have unlimited bandwidth and should not have any more problems with the downloads.  I am also compressing the newer videos so the file size will be smaller and hopefully not sacrificing quality.

Justin Reams has independently released four PDFs, the three listed above and an American football player.  They are now for sale as a bundle, regular price is $20 ($8 individually) for the three.  Until Feb 2, the America football player is free ($4)

Balloon Chit Chat / New YouTube Channel and Website
December 14, 2013, 05:44:21 AM
I made a post a while ago but must not have had a very enticing title.  Anyway I will keep this brief.  I have a new YouTube Channel, Facebook and website all called The Twisters Cookbook (links below)
The YouTube channel so far is focused on Fast 350 designs and trailers for the tutorials that I am now selling on the website.
Tutorials currently available are
Turkeys (3 sizes)
Yoda Parody (6 minutes design)
Christmas bears
And
Little Saint Nick by Justin Reams
The first three by me are all half off during my 12 days of Christmas Sale. Dec 14-26
There is more to the website than just tutorials, so take a look.  Once I get around to it I will start a picture thread of all YouTube and paid tutorials.
This whole project is a work in progress and I greatly appreciate any constructive criticism.

Balloon Chit Chat / The Twister's Cookbook
November 22, 2013, 11:08:06 PM
For more than four years, I have been wanting to create a website that had a searchable index of balloon designs and digital marketplace that provides twisters with a place to sell their designs, without having to pay the steep cost of producing a DVD or paying hundreds for studio quality cameras and lighting.  The production standards will be lower because the emphasis will on a the quality of instruction and design.  There is a lot more to the site that just what I am mentioning here, you can explore the site when it goes live on Dec 1. http://www.thetwisterscookbook.com

Because of the general flow of life and the absolute truth that things always take longer than I think, the site is about 3 weeks behind.  As such the turkey tutorials that I have made will be of much less value of Thanksgiving.  I know all my friends across the pond may not find much value in designs for the holiday, but I want to extend the same offer to all of you as I did on Facebook.  From now until Dec 1, I am offering my 2 turkeys for half price, $5.  You'll be sent a link that provides the tutorials as streaming video and a coupon code that will add them to your account for free on Dec 1.  At that time you can download and stream them whenever you like.
Just send $5 to mailto:mrtwist@magicaltwists.com">mrtwist@magicaltwists.com via PayPal and I'll get an email sent you as soon as I am able.

When will this ever stop.  Another company trying to profit from the hard work of others.

I recognize pictures from at least three people that I know and I am sure there are more.

I am with you, I enjoy having the physical DVD to refer back to.  I pre-ordered David's jumbos within 15 minutes of opening the email.
However, to answer your question.  It seems to be a matter of money and convenience.  The upfront investment is less with digital downloads, since you do not have to have physical DVDs printed and cased.  Also, the profit margin is greater (not that many producers do it for the money) You do not have to share the sale amount with a distributor, and you can release smaller amounts of content, one design at a time vs. a whole DVD.

Second, convenience, it is much more convenient for most people to just make a couple clicks and have it immediately.  Also, if you need something in a pinch and do not have the time or experience to work it out on your own, it is just a click away.

One great thing about the downloads is that allows more people greater access to the content, people all over the world can get at it without having to pay int'l shipping, customs, and any other charges associated with it.

One of my favorites is #40, it teaches a giant 646 tiger that is technically easy but impressive display piece.  It is also a nice introduction to twisting with 646s.  In general you'll find at least one or two useful designs in issues 38 and up.  I started off purchasing all the holiday issues, Christmas and Halloween, then started filling in the gaps.
Specific Favorites
49, 56, 57, 61, 63
All that being said 57 is a must have for Patrick's cockatoo!

I am with you, I went all out and bought Pieter Van Engen's DVDs and Books and told myself, NO MORE.  then Dylan had to ruin that with his excellent designs and instructions.
   My budgeting sucks too!

Yes, it was able to stand really well.  The joints were pressure fitted, rather than twisted in and made the legs fairly rigid.  I also put fishing weights in the feet to lower the center of gravity.

Alan is Swifty who makes the swifty bags.  Twist'em up make the aprons.  To the best of my knowledge no one is internationally known to make custom aprons, I'm sure there are people who do, but are not well known.

I personally tried to get a Swifty Bag and was politely told that it wasn't going to happen... sad.
