Topic/Discussion Of The Month / Which heads?
September 06, 2016, 06:11:14 AM
Morning!

I'm on the hunt for a detailed head design tutorial. I'm doing more and more people recently and I'd really like some decent tutorials to watch through. I've got my eye on Philias Flash's DVDs. However before I part with my monies I just wanted to ask you all if these are the ones to watch or if you know of any others? Thank you :)

Picture Gallery / Cups
August 22, 2016, 04:47:28 PM
So I've been playing about with cups and thanks mostly to David Brenion (all apart from the elephant) I made some I'm happy with! I'm also really proud of myself as I've almost got the 7 petal flower down to ALMOST perfect  ;)  I love the dog on his dvd but I can't get my head around that double frumple

Picture Gallery / Sharing!
July 31, 2016, 05:25:49 PM
Evening all!

So I've been doing balloon twisting for approximately 4 months now and I thought this forum has been so helpful for me I figured I'd give a little something back. Although this is incredibly basic it is one of my most asked for balloons in line work. I've become a big fan of bracelets, I try hats and headbands but the kids seem to just whip them off as quick as I put them on them but bracelets seem to stay put! This guy has a choice of mask colours, only uses 2 balloons and looks great! I don't think I invented this design and I'm sure there are much better ways but here is the one I do.

Turtle bracelet.

1 x 260 in lime green, 3 bubble roll through with the remainder used for the bracelet.
1 x blue/red/orange or purple 160 as the mask.

Picture Gallery / Thor
June 17, 2016, 02:11:41 PM
Today I made somebody a Thor to give as a fathers Day present. I'm quite pleased. I'm struggling to find something suitable to use as a stand. At present I'm using ballon sticks glued to a plate. It works ok but they're very flimsy. Can anyone else suggest something fairly thin that the customers can dispose of after please? What does everyone do?

Topic/Discussion Of The Month / Outside
June 13, 2016, 07:57:51 PM
Hi. I've taken part in a few events now twisting. All have been outside. Does anyone have any tips to make balloons last longer when outdoors? I know balloons pop but I seem to have a lot of upset children returning saying their balloons have popped. Is there something I could do to help lesson this or is this normal? Thanks

Picture Gallery / Queens guard
June 08, 2016, 05:52:05 AM
I've been asked to do some twisting at a local event for the queens birthday. I am doing 2 guards. Here is my practice attempt, he still needs ears! Its based on CJ Nelsons Christmas bear soldier and I just changed it to this. I really struggled with the apple twist of the head, its supposed to be a quick link but i don't have any in white so tried a raisin twist but just couldn't do it so it's just a balloon with a raisin twist. What do you think? If you have any suggestions please say. These will be on top of 2 columns.

Picture Gallery / Princess
May 22, 2016, 06:31:08 AM
Morning everyone. I've been trying to think of ideas to use certain balloons. Please can you give me your opinion of my princess using the heart heads? I'll be using them for line work as they're really quick. I think little girls will love them, my daughter likes them but my husband is being snobby and says he thinks they look silly. What do you think? Also I'm after ideas to use beebody balloons, I have done flying insects, rockets and a certain yellow alien. All for line work. See some below thank you  :D

Hi can you help please. I'm trying to twist with 646q balloons but they just keep bursting! Is there a special technique to these? I am burping them and squeezing them with no success! Thanks in advance.

What do you tell people when they ask how long a balloon model/sculpture lasts? I've just started up selling models and sculptures and people always ask how long they will ask. So far I've just been saying it's impossible to say as they are balloons and some last for weeks. I have people from 3 weeks ago telling me they still have theirs!! However balloons are balloons and can pop or deflate whenever..... Do you have a good answer for me that I can give please?

Picture Gallery / First Bride and Grooms
April 23, 2016, 07:06:51 PM
Hello everyone. I have built my first bride and groom, small and large bride. I didn't have the correct balloons needed for the large scale so had to improvise but I'm pleased with my first attempts. What do you think? With thanks to Ken Stillman.

Topic/Discussion Of The Month / What do I need?
April 14, 2016, 01:16:02 PM
Hi everyone. I posted this earlier but I think I put it in the wrong area!! Oops...Sorry!

I've just started my own balloon twisting business. I am still very new to it but have a lot of people interested and already booking me. I have My DBS and also Public Liability. I would like to know if you can tell me what or if I need any other licenses to twist at events and parties. I will not be busking but will probably do some car boots. Also I am making popular film and tv characters so is there a license for that? Any advice welcome thank you.

Welcome / I'm so new!!
March 11, 2016, 12:31:20 PM
Hi everyone!

I really am so new to balloon modelling. I am a mum of two. My daughter who is 4 LOVES balloon sculptures and my son who is about to turn 1 likes to pop them! I am at a stage in my life where I am done having children and am thinking about my future and work. Knowing how popular balloons are with children I wanted to try and incorporate them into my future work plans. I didn't however think I would become so addicted to doing it! I have literally only been practicing for a week now and already want to do bigger and better more than I ever expected. Anyway I look forward to all your advice as I KNOW I'll be needing it and I am excited to join in with the competitions that funnily enough has just been delivered by the postman! I have included a photo of my early work so hopefully you will get to see how I improve over time. Its a ball, dog and parrot on a swing....I just do what my daughter demands hahaha  :D  Thank you!  :)
