September 22, 2014, 08:15:44 PM
Went out on a limb yesterday and created a small  "mock Princess Carriage" for a wedding Fair centre piece.... took a few hours and lots of learning...  all from scratch made the whole frame.... sadly so much caught up chatting with every one.. didn't get much chance for some decent pictures.....Ah well next time....

Picture Gallery / Lamp Post with Lights
April 13, 2014, 04:55:17 PM
Not posted much for a while...  and I managed to get a whole day of twisting in yesterday.. what bliss, made loads of "Candy Cups" different figures.. practice...and finished off with a little bit of my favorite weaving... nothing too big this time (Yet)  but for all the decor twisters.. out there... the big version of a street light (forgive the colour scheme) from an Idea by Steven Jones  fits all... this smaller version is fitted with a "cheap red Led" to imitate a light,  it lasts much longer than the sculpture...

Picture Gallery / Yorkshire terror
March 26, 2014, 01:46:20 PM
I was asked Monday if I could create a Yorkshire Terrier (Tan, black white n silver.. so happy he was not too precise..lol) for a Work colleagues wife who has undergone an operation in hospital and was pretty low missing her "pooch" so he could take it yesterday (Tuesday).

WOW Pressure!! had not been practicing for a while and looked up some idea's on the web and thanks to "Gabrielle Hodge of Gabby's Crazy Balloons" I had some idea how to proceed.....

I wasted vast amounts of 5" hearts trying to put twists/anchor points in the lobes...  and completely went blank on the back legs (position and look) so I was not happy with the whole thing, but had promised....

I have attached a copy of the "Terror!   His wife started crying for Joy... could not express how happy and funny it was.. so.. Job done...  It seems I am  my worst critic, but I still do not like it....and  I promise to make the improved / better model....... (have now seen the correct / finished model by  Patricia Balloona) ... onwards and upwards rekindled spirit!

Ok, I am not sure if I have even got this on the correct Area / Forum, but here goes....

I would appreciate (and take on board) constructive views on the best Apron / Bag to buy (prob from you Graham ;) ) - I have lots of stock of 160, 260, 360s and 5" rounds, that continually get passed around searching for the balloon / colour I want, I am not a "Pro Twister" so cannot justify the new bags shown on the Home page (although I have seen them / drooled for a while.. )... I think my mains points would be -

1. Be able to see the balloon size and colour
2. Simple access
3. When I do go out and do a little advertising (practising in front of an audience) be able to transport what I require and be able to maintain the two points above.
4. Cost: £100.00 max

Looking forward to any and all suggestions, thanks in advance.

Hi to one and all,

I would like to thank every one who passed on their wisdom and knowledge Tuesday and today.

Meeting the amazing Shirley Ray, watching and practising methods we had not seen before... outstanding

With little formal training in "twisting" it has all been appreciated by myself and my Newphew, we have learnt quite a few "Twisting tricks" that we would have missed had we not attended.

If I could make just two recommendations they would be:

1. If you have never been to one of these days, have just started out, need some assistance, love twisting balloons getting frustrated and need encouragement and help - Definitely Go!

2. If you have the the skills, been practising this art for years and flinch when you see someone doing it wrong - Please Don't Go, think about setting up a local jam to helps us "learners" out.. I would be more than happy to buy a couple of beers for your advice, assistance and chance to practise, or even to watch you work.

No Chastisement is inferred or intended, purely the requests of a student wishing to hear the teaching of a really good instructor.  ;)

Thanks again to one and all. :D

ps. Will the Award for "The Great Escape" be going to Joyce?

Welcome / New Member

Hi to everyone,
My name is Paul, getting on a bit..... (closer to 60 than to 21) started doing Balloon decoration for weddings Last August, discovered how much I enjoy making others happy whilst trying to make a little pocket money out of it, discovered the addiction / fascination of balloon twisting and how it can go hand in hand with Balloon and Venue Decoration, started a small business / working hobby in hope of expanding online and within Yorkshire.

Continually learning all the time (boxes of scraps!), whilst using "Balloon twisting" to compliment the Balloon decoration (small figures / sculptures).

For the first time in my life, spent two days 6 hours a day just twisting flowers / Dogs / Motorbikes / Monkeys etc. for the children at two fun days in support of a Charity for Neuroblastoma, wow! it was tiring but extremely gratifying (can now appreciate all the work you "professionals" put in to it).

Hopefully look forward to adding value to the culture here,

Twist on, Twist off.
