Hello all, I have started yet another new Project, the theme for 2020 is Famous British Characters from History and Literature

First up is this chap, just like me he was born in the city of Portsmouth, he once got a coin stuck up his nose and he had to invent a machine to dislodge it.
Brunel built tunnels, railways, ships and many other things during his lifetime changing the landscape of Britain forever. He was one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history.

Picture Gallery / A Friends wedding
February 26, 2019, 12:30:32 AM
The other day I was delighted to be asked to provide some balloon decor for a good friends Wedding, The brief for the wedding was anything Disney, anything related to the Navy and the colour Blue . . . . My friend is also a magician so I figured the Sorcerers Apprentice would cover the Disney and the Magic, and then a nautical themed archway would cover the rest. I am pretty pleased with the results.

Events. Balloon, Magic, Etc / Balloon talk
November 09, 2018, 03:05:36 PM
Hello all, Next Thursday (the 15th November) at 6pm I will be giving a talk about my crazy balloon world, I will share my journey from creating a simple 3 twist dogs up to some of my most recent sculptures. I will also include a brief history of balloon twisting and demonstrate some incredible things that can be done with balloons to show that they are not just a simple children's toy!

The event is free to attend but a collection will be made for my chosen charity: Naomi House hospices provide expert care to more than 325 life-limited and life-threatened children in our southern area.

It is taking place in the city of Chichester at the Boston Tea Party tea room.

You can just turn up on the day however spaces are limited so click here to book your place - https://talksatsix.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR21-gCq-Lvtl8hi6_fjak_W30aojQqEAFoRy_CsdYeIVlw8UXgadH_hrGM

You may have seen the little lego balloon clown doing the rounds on social media, well I liked him but not as a clown so I created my own version to look like my Bowtie Balloon Guy character.

Balloon Chit Chat / Uploading Photos
January 22, 2018, 12:40:01 PM
I've spent the last few days trying to upload a few photos but there seems to be something wrong. I am not sure if anyone else has tried too?

Graham is away for a few more days so I am sure he can take a look at it on his return when he has calmed down from the excitement of Twist and Shout.

Its been a year since the last one but it is back, the 7th Portsmouth Balloon Jam.

Just so you know a little bit about the venue. it is situated just off the island of Portsmouth so it is easy to drive to with free parking, there is a railway station about 5 mins walk away, a bus stop right outside and we have a small room but we can spill out into the main area if needed so there is plenty of space.

Food is available too.

Balloon Chit Chat / Fun Christmas Competition
December 08, 2017, 10:56:18 AM
Hello all

I thought it would be good to set it as a fun competition for all of you, I warn you, I had about an hour to throw all these together so some models are a bit shoddy but I hope you get the idea.
Each balloon sculpture is a clue to a well known Christmas song or carol, you need to guess the song or carol. one of the photos has 2 answers but i am not telling you which one it is, so there are 11 photos with a total of 12 answers to get.
If you feel like sending your answers to
mailto:bowtieballoonguy@gmail.com">bowtieballoonguy@gmail.com
I will pick a winner and I will sort out a small prize for you :)
Closing date is Christmas eve
Good luck
Rob

Balloon Chit Chat / Leicester Balloonatics
September 01, 2017, 10:07:06 PM
I thought this was an interesting piece of information, I heard it referenced on a podcast recently so had to look it up.

Back in 1864, Henry Coxwell had been testing a new form of transport, the hot air balloon, he had already had one successful flight in his balloon which he called The Mammoth, his next demonstration was to be at Leicester racecourse where 50,000 people gathered to see his larger more impressive balloon The Britannia.

Onlookers seemed disappointed with the new hot air balloon claiming it was small and old looking, the crowd soon turned against Henry Coxwell and the balloon pilot eventually ripping the balloon to shreds. The people of Leicester soon became known as the Leicester balloonatics.

Picture Gallery / Frog Feet
February 11, 2017, 04:07:03 PM
Hello all,

I recently made the Poison Dart Frog for my Endangered Species project and I had a few people ask about the feet.

So here it is, it is one of those things that looks good but turn it over and it looks terrible.

Just so you know, I spent 2 mins making the multicoloured one to show you, the original frog I spent about an hour positioning to get the feet sitting in exactly the right place.
