I got started as a kid by being mesmerized watching BOZO the Clown here in the United States when I was a kid.  I would always try and make a simple 3 twist dog.  Then as I got older I never forgot about this obession.  Then one day I was walking through a local event and saw a person making balloon animals. So I bought a bag of assorted 260s  and a hand pump and went from there.  Then I started using it as a team building tool for my sales staff.  Now twenty years later I am pretty sure that my DNA has traces of latex in it. I work with balloons full time and I am always looking at ways to change the creations I make. My biggest frustration is not having the time to play around and make new designs or brush up on ones that I have not made in a while.  I have been popping in here for several years now..I wish I could do it with greater frequency

No Graham, You and everyone here are absolutely wonderful.  This forum is teh ebst that I have beenlucky enough to be associated with. I stay pretty busy but with a bit of a slow down here in early summer I hope to be able to spend more time posting and getting back to art of balloons by adding new designs and learning a few as well.

Welcome / Reintroduction

I just wanted to say Hi!....again.

It has been a long while since I have actively participated in the forum.  From being very busy to being a little disillusioned from other forums I stepped back. Just the other day while on a trip to New York City I asked myself what I really missed that put the extra little fun in the balloon world for me....it was the interaction in the forums. This has been the greatest place for help and exchange of ideas I have ever been associated with.

I am in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area of the United States.

I have been twisting off and on for over 15 years. I do private parties and community events ( the larger the better) and do a great deal of restaurant work.

My influences have been Don Caldwell, Robbie Furman , Thelma here has helped me a great deal as well.

My goals are to continue to grow my company and make people smile and laugh while maintaining professionalism and ethical values.

Wow!

This is more than a little worrisome. It is sending a dangerous "dare" to the youth but thankfully this balloon would not be too easy to be obtained by them.

Very Nice. I have never thought of actually using a real diaper.

I have made a diaper

1" Pinch twist , 4" bubble , 1" Pinch twist, make another 4" bring it around and tie it into the first 1" twist.

This is just like the Don Caldwell bracelet. The excess I deflate and knot and use it to tie things together.

Yours is extremly nice. Thanks for sharing.

That's not fair. We should all have a grandson like that. Well, not yet my oldest is only 14 I hope he waits at least a decode before making me a grandfather.

Bonnie, That is absolutely the greatest night out any of us in the twisting family could ask for. Make sure to buy him an Ice Cream Cone!

Happy Twisting!

The alien hat is incredible. I have never tried to stuff an alien into a 350..but I will try now!

I have been using the GEO as the space ship ( diamond clear) .. put a glo-bracelet into the geo and alien printed for the pilot.

Super hat!!!

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Re: I need a frog

Thanks Graham,

I had seen the frogs that you linked to the thread.

I have been making frogs that are very similar to the Don Caldwell Bullfrog that uses two hearts joined at the lobe. The issue I am having is that when I work outdoors in warmer weather 85 degrees F + in the sun the two hearts tend to fuse together. Thusly, they become difficult to manipulate while adding the other features..they tend to burst ( even when soft).

The ones you stated are great examples. I was just looking for ideas. This weekend I'll sit down and try and incorporate some of the ideas from those posted.

Thanks

I am in a bit of a pickle. I need a frog that is beyond the basic frog yet not so detailed that it takes forever to make.

I am just having some type of mental block. If anyone could post some images maybe that coould get me off on the right foot.

Thanks

It has been a while since the last posting on this thread but I was wondering if, Bonnie, has produced a Flower CD?

So, you designed the digger right there on the spot? That is awesome.

Have you ever done anything close to that before? It looks as if a Flintstone Mobile could be fashioned from it as well.

Great job!

Welcome / Kahuna Balloona
February 06, 2009, 03:20:16 PM
Hi to everyone!

I am Kahuna Balloona ( Pittsburgh - Pennsylvania -USA), I have been lurking in the background for the last several months.

I have been making balloon creations for the the last 6-7 years. I started out making the standard 3 twist dog for my children and then started asking myself what else can I make? Well, it was not long before I was addicted.  Now, each day when I get up I check into a couple of forums to see what has been created or what topics are being discussed...same thing happens several timmes daily and just before bed each night.

I stay busy with events during a good part of the year along with making sure that I pay my way forward by twisting for local elementary schools and adult day cares gratis.

My goals for the next couple of months are to conquer weaving. I really want to learn a great birthday cake and a woven hat.

I am happy to be here and hope that I can contribute
