I'm a Beaver Scout leader in the Scout Association, running a colony of six to eight year olds. Every now and again (a couple of times a year) we have big events where we get several groups together and have a day of fun and crafts.

Well, a few months ago I looked at activities I could do to fill in or to do while wandering around at the events. Partly it was inspired by an entertainer at the Norwich Beer Festival who was making hats and wrist items. Anyway, I thought "that's a good idea."

So, I started looking at it and learnt a couple of easy models. I'm now starting to move on and learn more complicated things, but needed some ideas from books. I've only been able to find one at my local library (The Ultimate Balloon Book by Shar Levine and Michael Ouchi) but I found a few websites like Graham's that gave more instruction.

So, I've very much a newbie and not looking to make a living from it, but more as a new skill that I can use to entertain the children in Beavers and also so I can teach them simple models like a dog (and all the variations thereof).

So, if anyone can recommend books or sites that are best for someone at my (low) skill level, I'd be grateful. Having a full-time job plus Scouting two evenings a week and on Saturdays means I can't get away from Norwich easily to attend events but if anyone works in this area and is willing to lend a hand to teach me (don't forget, Scouting is a non-paid charity activity), then I'd be eternally thankful.

Stuart
