Picture Gallery / Bride
July 31, 2008, 05:13:56 PM
I did an angel a little while ago and I have been doing the step by steps for a Christmas compilation.  I just finished when I decided to have a go at making it bigger.  I made it a bride instead of an angel.  Bit early in the year for an angel.  At first I filled it out with round balloons bit didn't like it so I found a very big wedding balloon and put that inside.  I put the original angel next to it for scale.  Hmmm  guess what! I don't have a wedding this weekend.  Hells Bells!!

I saw a request for a deer on a site so I sat down and had a go at Bambi.  I was quite pleased with the look although it was a s...........o.............d  to work out.  I will have another go tomorrow if I get time.  Maybe give him a body.  Or stick him on my wall as a trophy!!.

Balloon Chit Chat / Workshop Recommendation
July 07, 2008, 07:12:27 AM
Hi Everyone
I know this has been advertised but I just wanted to say to you all that I would highly recomment that you go along to the Sabina Keller Workshop on Wednesday.  I don't know how many of you are coming but those who dont will truely be missing an opportunity to see a worldclass balloon artist. I have been to see Sabina before and her workshops are easy to follow and full of inspiring and creative ideas.  Infact I like her material so much I am travelling from Leicestershire to see her.  I don't EVER try travelling further than North London but for this I will make an exception.  Wish me luck though.  Especially with my driving skills - or lack of them (I bumped into a Lotus car yesterday.  Nothing like doing it in style.  It wasn't my fault - honest!!!!  I was reversing my Belingo Van looking in the rearview mirror and BANG!  I looked and couldn't see anything.  I thought "What the F...   have I hit?!!!"  Well when I moved the car forward and got out I nearly died.  Oh for ....... sake.  of all the cars I could hit.    The big question is can i make it all the way to Sabina's workshop without any disasters - probably not but I will come anyway.

Picture Gallery / Floating Flowers
June 26, 2008, 10:59:27 PM
Hi All

I hired a helium tank to try my hand at a small decor job and I had some helium left.   I am taking back tomorrow so I thought I would have a play tonight.  I wanted to make some flowers that were free standing.  I used helium in the hearts and normal balloons for the stem so hopefully the flower part would pull the model to an upright position without actually taking it to the ceiling.  Well I was surprised how much a small piece of balloon will weigh a helium balloon down.  At first the flower was floating too high but by adding an uninflated scrap into the flower where it would not be seen, it was possible to the strength of the heliums pull.  So the flowers just stood up here I wanted them and waved and turned in a breeze.  For once I have left background in the photos because you have to see the background to see how nicely they floated.  The nice thing about these is when the helium has lost its effect, the models are still ok to give away.  I think if I do these again I will use highfloat first so prolong the effect.  I would like to do a whole load of them all together in a big room and see the effect.
