Balloon Chit Chat / olympic themed balloons
August 21, 2008, 11:50:14 AM
Anyone done any olympic balloons?

I was trying stuff with the five coloured ring logo but was also getting ready for a gig! So I didn't get far.

Any suggestions - or shall I wait for four years!!

Balloon Chit Chat / Edinburgh Fest
August 14, 2008, 01:48:51 PM
Hi All,

I've just come back from a short visit to the festival and saw at least six balloon benders busking in various parts of the city.
They all seemed to be doing very good trade and were quite busy in the drizzle.

Interesting to see their set ups, lots of menus, umbrella's and examples of their work on display and of course colourful costumes.

I did my balloon cabaret act at a late night cabaret with small audiences but good ones!

As August is traditionally holiday time - a time for travelling and packing your bags. So as we often have to travel to a gig or a jam,

What is your set up for a balloon modelling gig....?

what do you pack in your bag?
What balloons? How many colours? What do you pack them in? How often? What pump? Do you have a spare?
Do you have a balloon list of stuff you can do? What else do you pack?
How long to set up? Are you strolling or static?
What other balloon equipment do you have?
Whats the most useful bit'o kit?
I'm packing Sun Cream big time at the moment!

Its all up for discussion....

Hi All,

Graham has asked me (and I have accepted) to run this section of the forum.

This months topic is one several people have expressed interest in discussing already.

Building & structure of an act

So before I put my views up - any thoughts?

best wishes

A Deflated History of...

Danny Schlesinger

I went to Fool Time Circus School in Bristol (now Circomedia) and trained in clown, circus skills, impro and basic theatre techniques. Then I went to Ecole Lassaad in Brussels for two years training in movement based theatre. In addition have also done a heap of clown courses, mask classes, acting, and magic.
1997 saw Danny create a ten minute cabaret act Danny and his Yellow Balloons. It was very well received in many cabarets, burlesque nights, comedy clubs and circus shows. During 2003 balloon ideas were developed to a twenty minute piece Inflated Ideas touring with Circus Bites - new circus by young companies. The aim was to research artistic content, style and to develop physical comedy with balloons.
A full length solo show was developed and first seen in Spring 2006, touring to Windsor Arts Centre, the West End Centre, Aldershot and London's Diorama Arts Centre.
Further development with Avner Eisenburg (Avner the Eccentric) took place during August 2006 to create "Lighter than air" . The reworked show was then performed at Celebration Barn Theater, Maine USA and then autumn 2007
Danny has been performing in theatre, circus and street as well as TV and films for over 15 years.

On the balloon sculpting front, I still feel I have a way to go. I got bored with one balloon sculptures and balloon modelling. Then I went to TMJ 2006, I was amazed how far it has gone and continues to go. So I bought some DVD's and have been doing hats and wearables since.

Any questions – I'm on Balloon Chat 28th April to 5th May!

I have many versions of a biog so, apols if its sounds a bit formal.

Hi There,

I was asked at a gig by an optician for balloon glasses. Anyone got any ideas? Photos?

I did try for a while but failed!

thanks

Marketing........plus Advertising Work / Busking
April 16, 2008, 02:48:26 PM
Hi everyone. Not sure where to post this so I'm putting it in Marketing as it was mentioned!

I'd like to start busking balloon sculpting, and have never done this before.

My reasons are two fold - get some money coming in when its quiet,
and (the main one) - to try out new models, & banter with an audience.

Has anyone any tips, ideas or suggestions?

cheers
