I'd love to do a movie premiere - do you simply make the same balloon design to the line of guests? How does it work?

Balloon Review 160 - Monkey by John London (Video Download)

Available from http://www.jlomagic.com/balloon-tutorials/ - priced $5

This set of instructions comes supplied as links to private youtube videos to view and stream on-line. I prefer to have the ability to download the files for safe keeping on my PC and so I can watch them without being connected to the internet. There are many utilities available on the internet to allow you to download videos to keep from youtube so I had to use my own method to download the files.

The video instructions are usable but a little strange as the instructions contain a little bit of talking to introduce the model and then muted during the actual making of the model - very strange. There is no mention of bubble sizes etc so you will need to be comfortable visually following the instructions.

The end result is really good and makes for a very cute monkey. Good value for $5 but a little more attention could be made to the filming of the video.

Made my one with Geos as I purchased a really good DVD!

SUMMARY

I really like Pieter's designs. They are all well constructed and he pays attention to the finer details. I feel the designs should remain exclusive to the DVD rather than featuring them in Balloon Magic Magazine as this would increase the overall value for money. Check you don't own these designs prior to purchasing but if you would like to improve the quality of your creations and gain lots of helpful tips then this DVD is for you.

RABBIT ON A SKATEBOARD

Shown as two separate chapters on the DVD this is a rabbit and a skateboard. This is without doubt the hardest design to make on the DVD. The face uses a double frumple twist. Basically a frumple twist is when you push the knot of the heart balloon back inside the balloon (like a tulip twist) but push it into the side of the heart and tie it secure from the outside of the heart using a scrap of balloon. Now making a single frumple twist is certainly achievable if the heart is very soft but to make a second one in the SAME balloon crossing the other one is a challenge. It took me a very long time to do this and even then my joining points were in the wrong place so I was unable to add the teeth for the Bunny as part of the lower jaw. I gave up!!

Matt Falloon uses this design on one of his DVDs. Totally impracticable for my real world work!

I do like the final design though - it is a good character.

Yes £3.50 is what I charge for a bulk order. That seems a fair price to me :-)

Your artwork is brilliant - well done - can i be cheeky and ask how much you charged per Princess?

SUMMARY

A wonderful set of designs and techniques that will allow you to create just about every princess there is and those that will appear in the future.

With most of them being mounted on hearts it does make them difficult to mount on headbands or wear as a bracelet so in these instances I have switched the skirts to be rounds and twisted a sidewall bubble at the base for joining to a flower.

I then use this flower to mount the Princess onto a cup or headband.

Another quality production from Shana and I highly recommend the investment.

AURORA

Not a princess I know but one of the quick and basic ones to make. The only addition here is a small gold tiara.

RAPUNZEL

Instantly recognisable with her long hair this rapunzel is very nice. Build using the same principles as the other dolls just with long hair and a nice little flower.

Really nice.

Balloon Review 159 - Rainbow Pony by Justin Reams (Video Download)

Available from http://twisterscookbook.com - priced $10 (just $7 using discount code 3offpony until August 1st 2016)

At the last TBAG event in Birmingham I think it was Lisa who was looking for a My Little Pony design - well here is one that is really good and a bargain at $7. The download comprises of 3 individual video files. The first video shows you how to make the basic pony. The second explains how to add the colourful mane and tail and the third one explains how to make the optional base.

The video is instantly accessible from the Twisters Cookbook website but I do have to say that the video quality is certainly not the highest definition and the sound is very quiet so you need to crack up your computer to full volume to hear it clearly.

As with Justin's previously releases the instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow. The pony is a great design, really love the feet and using q-links for the base to provide attachment points for the pony's feet and the optional flowers makes it easy.

In summary a really good design, takes a while to make (but you could simply it) which will pay for itself fairly quickly.

Buy it whilst you can still enjoy the $3 discount.

Congrats Bongo...

Thanks Lyn - I will remember this next time you ask to have a go of my spinning plate!

WOW, what an absolutely incredible two days. I am so grateful to Sabina for sharing some brilliant ideas and concepts and for lecturing for the two full days. It was lovely to meet some old friends, make some new ones with many laughs along the way.

Two days in Birmingham and I come home with a baby in a pram - I have some explaining to do to the wife!

Oh, and my volume 2 Beating book was drenched by a bottle of water in my car - that was an expensive mistake.

Thanks to Lynne for the plate spinning lessons, to Graham for supplying the projector and long lasting microphone batteries, to Dan for the loan of his smurf body, to Kevin for my competition 'hot dog' entry, to my new Pug friend and to Rob for sweeping the floor despite having a dodgy hand.

I even met some celebrity friends... Mr Tumble, Steve Davis and Aunt Sally in a local cafe whilst having breakfast.

It's good to be back.

Approximately 7 house bricks high... go outside and look at the wall of your house. This is why I take photos in front of bricks so you can get a sense of size...  :P  :P
