Diamond Jam is coming up in a few weeks which I'm looking into getting possibly a cheapish flight out to attend.
They have some good names lecturing and a balloon fashion show on the 16th Aug plus balloon camp which is for the balloon decorators so all in all a good few days of ballooning.
More details and website are; http://www.diamondjam.com/registration.htm

I'm also looking into going to the August magical masterclass that Jeff McBride is holding on the 19/26th Aug which just happens to follow on nicely from the balloon convention and is also in Vegas.

Been trying to book the flights for Don coming over, flights from London to LA return are £381 but when I try to book LA to London return the cost is a staggering $980 or £776.
Does any one work or know someone in the travel business and can get some sensibly priced tickets. We need to sort this ASAP,
any help appreciated.

Have tried
delta, continental, ba, united airlines, virgin and KLM

March 03, 2009, 05:04:07 PM
I have been looking through the so called new members and after number 378 zoesfaces of the rest I think only about 15 are genuine members.

The genuine ones are in my opinion?

381

423
429
431

439
441

with a question mark against
440

447

So we need to make a decision, so could you please put up a post saying hi to everyone as from next Monday 9th March I will start to delete all the members after 378 due to spam problems with spyware and unwanted emails advertising things of an adult nature.

If anyone has any ideas on who is genuine and what is spam any help with this would be appreciated.

Balloon Chit Chat / Help required with spammers
February 13, 2009, 01:06:06 PM
I've just spent a few hours deleting about 150/175 new members that we are pretty sure were spammers?
Apologies if by accident I've de-registered someone, please get in touch and rejoin.
If anyone has 10 mins could you go through just the last page of new members to suggest which are genuine members and who may be a spammer. Thanks

If anyone joins now I have to activate there account so hopefully this will stop the problem, so if anyone is joining it would be good to also get a seperate email from you. My email details can be found on either site;
http://www.sempertexballoons.co.uk or http://www.grahamleesmagic.co.uk

This is the latest person trying to join with a user name of  "Disoyey" it's a problem deciding if this is spam or genuine?

It looks like we are being attacked by spam & adult sites. I have deleted many new members and If I've deleted a genuine member by mistake my apologies so please re-join and send me a PM with your details.

It would be great that if you do join the site you could put a post on straight away as this will help us to tell the difference and hopefully we wont delete you by mistake again.

Balloon Chit Chat / Forum update
June 04, 2008, 07:18:31 PM
Have ammended two of the forum sections, marketing now is also where to advertise if you need someone for a job etc and the off topic has been added to so that we can all promote our hidden talents that may be of help to others on the forum. I know someone that is great at film editing on the site so I'm sure he'll tell you more soon.
Any other suggestions that youhave please let me know.

There also seems to be a problem for a few with logging in & staying logged in which makes it impossible for you to post, as your all aware technology is not my strong point but I have been in touch with three people trying to see what the problem might be, as yet not much luck. But we are aware of the problem & trying to sort this out.

Could'nt find out how to copy Christine's post to this section, so for now have just pasted it over.
Christine says;

Hello Again!
As I was saying............. I am Christine Belcher also known as Twistina The Balloon Lady.
I have been "doing" balloons for about 4 and a half years. (I did dabble a bit before that with very basic dogs and swords etc but was not inspired and gave it up!)
I am married to Mike AKA Twistopher who also " does" balloons. We have been entertaining children and adults for many years with our "Barrel" organs with puppets.

The lucky break that changed my whole life, came in October 2003 when we were asked to do balloon modelling as well as playing the organ at an event that was 9 days long! I bought a couple of new balloon instructional books and bearing in mind that I had not previously been inspired, prepared to get through the 9 days as well as I could. I determined to learn one or two new models every evening during the 9 days and then use that design the next day. This worked really well and I found that I was getting lots of really positive comments. To top this, a little boy asked for an airplane which I had just learnt. I did this and then had the idea to put it on top of another inflated balloon to make a handle so he could "make it fly." He was delighted with it. Suddenly, the boy gave his balloon to his Mum,charged towards me and threw his arms around me and exclaimed "You're the best!" I felt 10 feet tall and my confidence was given such an enormous boost! This and all the smiles and happiness that my balloon models brought forth convinced me that latex was calling me!
When I got home, I googled balloon modelling on the web and found balloon HQ as well as other balloon modellers sites. When I saw what was possible with balloons, I was hooked. I started buying books and videos and just had so much fun trying out all the designs. After a few months, I started creating my own designs simply by taking requests from kids. If I did not know how to make something, I just had a go! When I got home I would try to improve the design till I was completely happy with it. A good tip is always carry a digital camera with you. They are an invaluable tool in keeping a record of any new creation that you make. How many times have you made something new that is terrific and then later you can not remember what you did?!!
Since that 9 day booking, we have worked there repeatedly as well as at many other venues and events. I gave up my full time job as a cake decorator some 2 1/2 years ago to concentrate fully on balloons. I have lectured, won several awards both here and abroad and have written my own CD rom book called "Twistina's Five Minute Balloon Delights" (  Shameless plug! Available direct from my Web Site http://www.twistina.co.uk or at Grahams excellent Care and Share Days) I often think about the little boy with his aeroplane, I wish I could meet him now to thank him. He truly helped to change my life.
Long May I keep Twisting,
Twistina
