Hi all.

I have been trying to practace my weaving, as it gives you so much more scope in what you can make, as you can see by some of the things posted here by some very talented twisters.

So, killing two birds with one stone, I got weaving yesterday, along a pirate theme, as down here during the summer, around the old harbour, and the fort, there are loads of pirate events, and we are having a pirate themed restaurant opening in August. I will be prepared now !!!

Here's what I did, and thank you to all those who posted their pictures of pirate ships. That was so useful. Thank you for sharing your ideas :D

Hi All,

Just got some Mocha balloons from Grahams Qualatex site, including some printed monkey 5" rounds to see how this goes during the summer.

Hope to shift a lot of them as its so quick and easy. The idea is by Don Caldwell from David Grists little Alien original.

Hope you like it :)

Picture Gallery / Christening piece
April 17, 2010, 02:49:35 PM
Hi All

I've got a commission to do a Stork and Baby for a christening next month, so I looked out an old photo of one I did ages ago and thought Aaaaaarrrrrrggggh

It was awfull, so I made another one this morning to photograph, and was very pleased with how it came out. Only a simple design, but sometimes simple can be better.

I was just wondering, does anyone else look at old pictures of what they've done and cringe ????

Website "Chat" Help / Would appreciate some input
April 15, 2010, 05:23:33 PM
Hi All

My web-site has just recently gone live to the big wide world and I would appreciate any comments before I see my friend who is doing it next week.

Due to family problems it went up before some glaring spelling mistakes and typo errors were corrected, so I know most of them, but you may spot some I didn'd, mostly in the FAQ section

Also there is no gallery yet. Is one needed, or are there enough pics. Technically we cant do Little pics that can be enlarged, so maybe a slideshow ?

Anyway, I look foreward to your replies, as imput from people who have stuff out working for them would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time :)  :)

Balloon Chit Chat / Sat at home fed up !
April 10, 2010, 09:34:58 PM
Got a bit bored this afternoon, 'cos I have got loads of stuff to do, I will get into lots of trouble if it's not done, but hey ho!

Thelma and Graeham's video "It's Quicker by Tube" contains the know how to provide such unique and stunning pieces that will surely enhance your reputation, so I thought if bouquets can go in balloons, if teddys can go in balloons, anything can go in.

This is what I did, using the exact method shown on the video. Who said balloons and knives don't mix  :o

Hi All,

One of the things I do to keep me out of mischief is repair and refurbish old magic props and such like, specialising in Punch and Judy.

I have just finished a couple of puppets, and thought you may be interested to see the results

The first is obviously the hero (or rather anti-hero) of the play. First picture before I got my hands on him, the other two after.

Balloon Chit Chat / Roger in the news
April 08, 2010, 07:33:16 AM
Good morning all,

A friend of mine who works for Wetherspoons pubs posted me their news magazine, and in it was an article about Roger. I cant find a link to it, but the article is on page 63 of their March/April magazine "Wetherspoon news", which you can find in their pubs.

If you need an excuse to go for a pint, have a look at it :D

It's a good write up with a great picture.

Well done Roger

When I have been working on portraying real people, rather than cartoons like sponge bob, or the super heroes, who are the most recogniseable celebs that we can portray ?

Elvis is obviously one of the most popular, but I have been trying to do contempory celebs. and before puting them on the website (which I would really apreciate your comments on, when it is complete) can you guess who these people are ?

The first correct answers get a free cream cake at the next care and share day !!!!!

Please reply to this, as it would so help me in knowing a sucsess or failure rate.

Thank you in anticipation.

Balloon Chit Chat / New DVD's
March 23, 2010, 02:11:03 PM
Hi All,

I had a bit of cash come in unexpectedly, so have bought some new DVD's and CD's.

Just arrived today are the two Thelma Levett CD's "Two and a bit" and "A little bit more" They are terriffic, with some really excelent useable models, and I would reccomend them unreservedly.

They have been reviewed here somewhere, but I can't remember where

I have been twisting this morning, and made this princess, as I needed a new design for a bridesmaid, as mine was a bit rubbish. See the difference !!!!

I also got the "Quicker by tube" DVD, and it looks superb. I will take a trip to B&Q to get the nessesary stuff, and will do a review, which I will do when I have had a go at some of the designs

Picture Gallery / Mothers Day and Easter
March 18, 2010, 02:27:56 PM
I know its a bit late for mothers day, but I wanted to show you an unusual request I had. It was for a mum who collected elephants, so since seeing one of Twisterella's designs, I have been putting things in baskets, and this is what I did.

I have just now done a small Easter display piece for my cards,
and was quite pleased with how the rabbit came out, especially as it was the first time I made him, and think he looks really cute :)

The design is by the lovely Shirley Ray, from a D.V.D I just got today.

One of my main interests outside of Balloons is Punch and Judy, (I repair, redress, and repaint Punch figures, props and booths) so I thought I would have a go at O'l Red Nose and his long suffering wife

Balloon Tutorial & Help / The Wurzles
March 02, 2010, 11:38:50 AM
I have got involved in a gig the Wurzles, (of Cider Drinker, and Brand New Combine Harvester fame) are doing this Friday and am a bit stuck .

I will do a cider drinker, a blackbird up a wurzle tree (one of their songs) and a couple of farmyard animals, but am a bit stuck with the combine harvester  :?

I really should do one, as I said I could  :!:

I have seen pics of a tractor somewhere, so will search for them and use it as a guide, unless anyone has any other ideas.

Anyway it should be a fun night, & I will post some pics. The models will be on display in the theatre foyer, and auctioned for a local charity, so hopefully a bit of knock on bussiness will come out of it.

Picture Gallery / Party place names
February 27, 2010, 06:29:36 PM
Hello,

I saw the photos of the Italian convention, and it seemed to me that the great Hippo models had been used as place names.

What a great idea as a delux version of the big bag of 1 balloon animals at the "every child gets a balloon" party.

I just wonder at the practicality of having them at the table, especially if the tea-table is at one end of the hall during the games part of the party. Will they survive ?

Anyway, I made up some to see what they would look like.

Hi Kate

Just a quick line to say many thanks for your lovely idea of a dog in a basket. Just hope it won't give us a whole new line of Paris Hiltons (not that she is an air-head    )

Picture Gallery / Celebrations
February 24, 2010, 03:22:08 PM
Hi all,

Now I can post pictures there's no stopping me !!!!!

Can I please ask your advice on a difficult subject i.e prices. There is no one I know round my way doing what I do, (that I am aware of) so I cannot "go compare".

The bunch of 6 roses I did for a golden wedding anniversary, and charged £15.00
The birthday cake I just finished, for tonight, and charged £15.00
The Bride and Groom I made for my portfolio, but have a job in July, so I need a bit of advice on price

The prices I quoted are "mates rate" any ideas on real world prices ?

Thanks in advance.
