Balloon Tutorial & Help / Superman
August 20, 2012, 09:38:17 PM
Did this for my sister's boyfriend who is superman mad! Used Ken Stillman's superhero body (though forgot the detail on the boots) and Patrick's face that he taught at the last TBAG day.

I made this for my dear friend's 10th anniversary of her birth pool business. I myself used the pools with both of my babies. I gave the labouring lady a serene expression, it does happen you know :) And I think I'm probably the first to make a balloon like this, what do you reckon?

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Masters of disguise
July 01, 2012, 07:34:22 PM
Hi all,
I'm off to a weekend at a castle in a couple of weeks (annual thing with friends). The theme for the ball this year is 'Masters of Disguise'. I'd appreciate any ideas for balloons, and a simple one I could teach as a workshop for the the teens and tweens. Cheers, Rhian

Picture Gallery / The Wiggles!!
June 13, 2012, 08:23:06 PM
Took my boys to see the Wiggles today for my 3 year old's birthday. I brought my balloons as usual and made him a Dorothy hat. They also came in handy for an unexpected bit of audience participation where people brought bones for wags and roses for Dorothy to give to the guys in person! Here's my birthday boy after giving Jeff a balloon bone and rose :)

April 21, 2012, 08:09:49 PM
Made this for a friend's daughter's birthday today. I put a pink heart with '4' in gold in the other hand before delivering it. Then twisted for 2 hours at the party. Got some amazing feedback and gave out loads of business cards! Very pleased :)

Picture Gallery / Tonya's clown hat and first gig
April 11, 2012, 08:58:31 PM
I did my first proper gig today, ie not for friends. It was a Children's centre open day. I wanted to attract the kids' attention so made Tonya's clown hat to wear whilst twisting. The day went really well and they want me to come back. I also got lots of invites to birthdays, though this was by the children, not their parents ;)
I gave the hat away to one of the workers there whose birthday it was. Fun, fun, fun.

Picture Gallery / The Snail and the Whale
March 01, 2012, 04:30:48 PM
My son's class had a Snail and the Whale theme for World Book Day today. As well as making him a snail outfit (sewn not twisted! although his antenna were balloons) I made this to hang in the classroom. It went down really well. :) Scored lots of mam points today!

Hi,
It's my friends' 21st wedding anniversary soon and they've asked if I could do an Ivor the engine balloon. I'm not sure how. Any pictures or suggestions would be most welcome.

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Sharpies
August 20, 2011, 03:44:07 PM
Hi all,
I was wondering what types of pen you all use. I have been using whiteboard marker pens so far but only have 4 colours. (and my edding 750 white paint pen). I want to buy a bigger variety of colours and also ones with thinner nibs. I've looked at sharpies but there are lots of different types :? . Do you use the permanent marker ones?

Thanks
Rhian

Welcome / Hello
August 06, 2011, 03:54:27 PM
Hi all,

I thought I'd introduce myself and say a bit about my introduction to the wonderful world of twisting.

I bought a box of balloons with pump and instructions from a card shop for my son's 3rd birthday party but never opened it. Some time last year I was at an event where a balloon artist made my son a pirate sword. Well he absolutely loved it but it eventually did what all balloons do, it deflated :( He asked me to 'make it better' which of course I couldn't....then I remembered that kit I had bought. I looked at how the sword had been done and thought, 'I bet I could do that'. Well, after a few pops (rubbish balloons) I made a passable copy. My son was delighted and I was hooked. I played about for a bit with one balloon animals and one day had the bright idea of looking on you tube. That was about six months ago and I now have a huge box of balloons, pens, pumps etc and two bored 'not another balloon mam' children.

I've done a couple of parties for friends, have made 'presents' for some colleagues and am dithering about whether I could recoup some of the outlay on my balloon stock by putting myself 'out there' as a twister for hire, gulp. I've not got that confident yet. I'm definitely not able to stop twisting though and need to feed my habit somehow. I'm looking forward to sharing my obsession with you all :) I live in Bradford so plan to come to the super day in Leeds.  :D
