Wow that is really good, instantly recognizable - are the ears balloons too?

Did a rainbow and fairy for a friends 3rd birthday today

Also did some twisting as they bought a bag of twisting balloons at the supermarket - they were awful have never had so many burst! Makes you appreciate the difference between 'good' and 'bad' balloons.  But the dogs and bears were still appreciated.

Thanks for this I used this idea for my daughters birthday - was a great success and she also liked to wear it as a boat?

Picture Gallery / 3rd Birthday Cake and Fairy

Thanks Phoenix I think it was a picture of one of your cakes (with Tigger and Piglet) I used for inspiration.  Yours are superb by the way.  Daughter loved it especially the candles which were removable which proved a great idea as she enjoyed playing with them (doesn't take much to amuse a toddler). My birthday soon will be making my own balloon cake for.

When we left Darwin had to leave my Dad to pop my creations as couldn't bring myself to do it.

Here is what I made for my daughters 3rd birthday.  Finding the hot climate in Darwin more challenging so cake suffered a few deflations but she loved it.  Unfortunately it appears what she really wanted was to change the colour of the dress on her existing balloon  fairy -  mmm not sure how would achieve that one :-)

Am now in Darwin with my balloon selection, very happy with them and busy trying them out.  Did not realise how much they weighed though I might have to leave all my clothes here do can get them in my luggage allowance or maybe leave the kids clothes even better!

I am on holiday in Darwin - with my new stash of balloons Dad brought from UK (thanks for all advice) and not much Internet access, so just have had to make it up which is good as an are playing round with new sizes (aren't 160's so tiny and cute!) My daughter is 3 on Thur so practicing her favourites fairies and pigs.
The fairy I saw the recent bride and groom pic and sort of copied that.

Welcome / Hi from Australia

Hi and welcome I am from Melbourne and very new to twisting, just doing as a hobby,  have not really worked out how to get hold of balloons cheaper apart from just god my dad to bring a load over from UK.  I think ordering from US seems like maybe most value if ordering enough but postage stings.

I prefer the layout of the new site, I like its compactness and it is easy to read being streamlined down the middle of the page.   I did like the FAQ page on your old one - particularly about the eco-friendliness of balloons (as is something I don't think people realize).

My only other comment is about the link to Facebook - as it is a link to a Facebook personal page rather than a Fan Page (may now just be called Facebook Pages), I think that could put people off as they have to become friend rather than just "like" your page - and with people being concerned about privacy often won't be friends with people they don't know personally.  I think Facebook is great way of keeping people informed but think would work better as a fan page.

Hope it is ok for me to comment - I have recently been doing some Fan pages for a couple of not for profit groups am involved with so have been made quite conscious of the different ways of using Facebook (I have a facebook page I dabble on (I think you commented on it with the jewelry from balloons links) and they are very easy to set up).

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Re: Tie off and discard
May 14, 2012, 07:01:24 AM
Thanks for the reply - I have been using scissors and that is the way have been doing it, just wanted to check there was no special way of doing it and that you snap/cut before you tie off (I have four books out of the library and various instructions but no where has it really explained how to do it)

Will practice just using my fingers.

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Tie off and discard
May 12, 2012, 10:37:00 PM
I did a quick search but couldn't find anything but maybe looking for wrong term - is there a particular method for ending a balloon e.g tie off and discard rest of balloon?  Currently this is my most feared instruction as have managed to deflate creation a couple of times.  Watching a balloon twister at a fair the other week he did so quick I couldn't see how he was doing it - but it almost appeared like he had something on his wrist using to cut off remaining balloon?

Welcome / Re: Hi! :)

Welcome - I am also a newbie - started twisting one month ago yesterday and am completely addicted.  My creations aren't fantastic but part of the reason I like them is because their imperfection means my toddler uses her imagination to fill in the gaps.
