Picture Gallery / Spider-Man ?
March 03, 2013, 04:58:29 PM
I saw a Spider-Man done by Rhian in 2012. I thought I would have a go, trying to use the heart for the head. The proportions are all wrong and the standing pose is not as effective as the original squatting position but I thought I would post anyway.

Balloon Chit Chat / Photo watermarks
March 03, 2013, 07:38:00 AM
This may be a very basic question but how do people water mark their pictures?

Picture Gallery / Birds in a nest
March 01, 2013, 10:38:31 PM
I was showing the kids at school a diamond weave and made it into a loop. It gave me an idea for a birds nest and hey presto! One birds nest with 2 blackbirds. Just a bit of fun but I quite like the idea.

Picture Gallery / Super hero

It is Zumba night again, which means I can watch the next part of the S. Frank Stringham dvd.
I adapted the design a bit but kept the structure. Not sure about just slotting the head into the top. Would like to be able to anchor it somewhere, somehow.

Balloon Chit Chat / Where to get boxes for posting models
February 25, 2013, 11:03:30 PM
I was wanting to create a balloon person and send it to a family member via Royal Mail. Any ideas where I can get a suitable box for the job. I have seen that some companies send helium balloons and balloon bouquets by post so there must be a company selling such boxes.
Any help gratefully received as always.

Picture Gallery / Charity balloon
February 22, 2013, 07:07:24 PM
I made this sample up for the Lions charity summer fair. They will discuss whether to use it as a way of raising funds. They will obviously fill with sweets and charge whatever they want. I intend to offer to make 100 of them (wrists hurting just thinking about it)  :D

Picture Gallery / Inspired by Brian
February 19, 2013, 09:04:36 PM
My wife has gone to Zumba, which means I get to watch the dvd I was given for my birthday. Balloon sculpting by s. frank stringham.
I remembered he did a sponge after seeing Brian's entry earlier and had a go. I adapted the one on the dvd and am quite pleased with the result. Need to try and do something with the eyes and the mouth (which is non existent at the moment).

Picture Gallery / Harry potter!
February 18, 2013, 04:15:18 PM
I asked my family for suggestions and Harry Potter came back so I had a quick go today. The broom is perhaps out of proportion and it would have been good to do a cloak but on such a small figure I couldn't be bothered :)
The scarf is a flat weave with 160q, the body and head are 260q, the hair and feet are 160q and the broom handle  is a 260q with woven 160q for the broom bit.
Once again, any suggestions or tips welcome. :D
Kindest regards

Picture Gallery / Scuba diver and now friends
February 17, 2013, 02:27:52 PM
Sea week is coming up at school and I remembered seeing a diver somewhere but could not find it again. So I had a go anyway and this is the result. I am pretty pleased with the overall effect.
I made the body and face out of 260q (including the clear), the hair, hands, flippers and hose out of 160q and the tank was a scrap of 350qtied on with unilateral 160q.

Balloon Chit Chat / What to do with balloon hearts?
February 15, 2013, 08:30:06 PM
I have just purchased my first bag of carnival colour hearts. I have seen them used so many times and now I have them, I am struggling to know what to try.
Any ideas that are straight forward?

Picture Gallery / A cute rat
February 09, 2013, 01:59:14 PM
My daughter came home on Friday after being told she was born in the year of the rat. She also brought the class teddies home for a visit. So I decided to make a rat.
I used this rat post5350.html#p5350
As inspiration for the head and made the rest up as I went along. I am really happy with it but wish the head sat looking forward a bit more rather than up.
You can't really see the whiskers but they are there and made of fishing line.
The entire thing, except eyes and one 350q tummy bubble, is made from 260q.
Hope you like it.

Picture Gallery / Duckling
February 06, 2013, 09:17:04 PM
I saw the teddy cup idea on chit chat and it got me thinking about using the idea for Easter gifts for my class. I found a duckling on balloon hq http://www.balloonhq.com/column/twistina/mar10/
And adapted it by adding the blue balloon for water. This can then be attached to the cup.
I included a picture with my hand for scale.
Any feedback and suggestions on how to improve it would be appreciated.

The art department at school would love to try and take some castings of balloon models but don't really know how. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

I know youtube is a great resource and so far I have learnt a lot from it but was wondering where to look for material that can be downloaded to my pc or ipad. Am obviously willing to pay.
Dvd options are not preferable due to my wife's unwillingness to sit through them  :o
Many thanks

Picture Gallery / Chinese Year of the snake
January 27, 2013, 08:55:49 PM
Here is a snake made of 260's with the Chinese New Year in mind. Ended up using diamond weave for the body and tail and flat weave for parts of the head and then a box weave? (Not sure if that is the correct term) for the neck.

Hope you like it.

Picture Gallery / Road runner ish!
January 24, 2013, 10:07:40 PM
Just made this using 350s (getting the bug for larger models) for a friends son's birthday on Saturday. Unfortunately it does not stand by itself but on two legs I reckon that's very tricky anyway.

I have seen a lot of mention of BAG and would like to know what are the benefits? how much is it? Is it worth joining? Etc.

Picture Gallery / Princess and the frog
January 19, 2013, 02:32:53 PM
Here is my first large princess, about 3 foot ish! First time I have done a raisin twist. Couldn't get the neck right, hence a bubble as a necklace.
I know there are no legs but I had a mixed bag of 350s to see if I like them and so used a woven dress that I sometimes use on 260s.
Pleased with the result :D
