Balloon Chit Chat / CBA programme
January 05, 2017, 11:33:22 AM
I've been twisting for a few years now (part-time) and I've been very keen to learn decor, I've made a start and done a few designs for friends and family and the likes.

I keep hearing about the CBA programme and I think it's something I'd like to get to grips with, a new challenge for 2017 possibly. Have any of you twisters done the CBA program? Do you think it's possible to proficient at both decor and twisting?

Balloon Decor / Tips?
August 30, 2016, 10:11:01 AM
I've just taken the plunge into decor and helium. It's something that's been on the back burner for a while but I think the time is right to throw myself into a new challenge as I've been asked to supply some balloons for a family wedding. Fairly straight forward stuff, 7x (4 latex cluster with foil heart top) and 5x (3 latex cluster).

I've bought the Conwin adapters and a qualatex sizer, is there anyting else I would need? How long should I give myself, I've said 2 hours? Any tips for a newbie?

Balloon Decor / First proper attempts at decor
August 12, 2016, 03:26:35 PM
I've done a few small pieces before, but a friend was attending a baby shower so I used it as an excuse to try out some designs. I'm fairly pleased with the results.

Does anyone subscribe to this magazine? Is there a way to subscribe to it in the UK or does it have to be shipped from USA?

Picture Gallery / Princess Leia
April 18, 2016, 09:17:47 AM
I recently purchased the 'Cutie Dolls' from Nifty Balloons, and whilst I was practicing someone suggested the head/hair looked like Princess Leia. So I had a go of it in the same style. For the Star Wars fans I know Leia has a gun rather than a lightsabre but you get the idea.

Balloon Chit Chat / Alice Bands
December 12, 2015, 09:35:32 PM
I've recently tried the tutorial from Holly Hopper for an antler headband but struggled with narrow bands that I had available. Does anyone know of a reliable supplier for the bands, preferably the 1" (or 2cm) ones.

What do you all wear while twisting?

Up to yet I've always wore our business polo shirt and jeans, but my other half bought me a rainbow waistcoat and dickie-bow. I've been really reluctant to wear it as I just don't feel like it's 'me'. How many of you twist at events as yourself or a character?

Balloon Chit Chat / Yay, excited
July 29, 2015, 12:31:28 PM
I'm a bit excited and a little nervous! I got asked by a corporate client yesterday to cover one of their events at the end of the year. It works out at 108 hours of twisting!!!!

I've been learning twisting since last Christmas and I feel like I I'm up to a reasonable standard (for line work models), I just need to perfect my presence in front of a crowd. I have done 4 or 5 events now so I am growing in confidence, and I have a few more lined up in the coming months to help build that.

Exciting times.
