Balloon Chit Chat / Age groups
July 20, 2015, 08:20:25 PM
What are your policies regarding ther younger age groups? I'm just dealing with an enquiry for a 3yo party and it's got me thinking.

Would you say over 3's are fine.
Under 3's the balloon is given to a parent and warned about choking hazzard.

Picture Gallery / Frozen Wands for line work

Just got a bag of the Elsa and Anna hearts from Graham this morning, knocked up a quick design that would work great for line work events.

Picture Gallery / Chocolate Vampire
April 25, 2015, 02:55:32 PM
At Easter I did a small run of bunnies filled with chocolate and they seemed to go down pretty well. So for Halloween I'm hoping to do the same with vampires, pumpkins and witches and advertise them like mad.

What do you think of the vampire design?  This is the first draft, might make the collar wings a little smaller next time.

Balloon Chit Chat / St George's Day
April 07, 2015, 04:34:14 PM
I've been asked to balloon model on St Georges Day whilst my other half is face painting, but I'm a bit stuck for ideas that I could do to fit within the theme.

I was thinking of trying to keep everything red/white, hopefully stuff like shields/swords for the boys, maybe tiaras for the girls, possibly the odd horse here and there. Can you think of any other models that would suit?

Balloon Chit Chat / Small quantities
March 27, 2015, 06:54:50 PM
I've come up against a brick wall trying to find balloons (namely 260Q's) that I can buy just a few bags of, at sensible prices. Mainly is the shipping prices that push them over the top.

I did find this website who ship via snail mail for free (http://www.click4balloons.co.uk/) but never heard of them before so reluctant to buy.

I know Graham is a great retailer but I just can order in the numbers needed.

Balloon Chit Chat / First gig nerves
February 14, 2015, 11:58:10 PM
I did my first 'gig' today! I teamed up with my partner (face painter) for a children's 5th birthday party. It was only supposed to be an hour but I over-ran a by about 15 minutes or so.

There were plenty of nerves to start with and it was very chaotic but I survived to tell the tale. There were a couple of designs that I was asked for that I didn't know how to do (batman, minion) but I managed to steer the children round to something else. It's give me a few things to thing about to improve for the next time.

Most funny moment.... getting asked for some type of light sabre. After talking to the boy about what it was, all he wanted was just a single 260 blown up and straightened!!!!!! I felt like it was a cop out, but he loved it    But I suppose that's what it's all about, keeping the customer happy!!

Balloon Chit Chat / Sweet Cups
February 13, 2015, 06:41:37 PM
What are the cups called that I've seen which can be filled with sweets and balloon attached to the top.

I wouldn't mind having a 'go' with them, does anyone have a preferred supplier?

Thanks in advance.

Balloon Chit Chat / UK retail
December 10, 2014, 07:45:30 PM
Does anyone know if there are any 'shop' places around north Manchester that sell 260q's?  I'm only after 1 bag for Saturday and it wouldn't be cost effective to get them posted.

Balloon Chit Chat / First gig
November 28, 2014, 11:25:13 PM
I've just been bitten by the balloon twisting bug and I'm learning the ropes as quick as I can, but my other half has lined me up with a public event where she will be face painting and I will do balloons.

I just wanted to ask on how others felt at their first public line work event? How many designs should I have on my 'menu'?

Welcome / Hey
November 23, 2014, 11:34:38 AM
Hi all, another newbie here.

I'm Lee and am based in Lancashire, just north of Manchester. My better half is a professional face painter and I've been looking at ways we can add to her business. I gave twisting a try and I seem to have a hidden talent I never knew I had, lol.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos and seem to have the basics mastered with things like swords, flowers, bears, guns, tigers. I'm going to concentrate on the 'simple' designs for now, stuff for line work, and then hopefully to bigger and better things.

Looking forward to learning a lot and hopefully contribute where I can
