This months topic - Costumes and Make up

What do you wear when twisting?

Do you have different costumes for various situations?

Do you have winter/ summer costumes?

Do you have indoor/ outside costumes?

Do you have themed costumes?

Show us your pics!!!

Are there bits of costume that help you as a twister?

What about make up? Do you wear any?

cheers

Great subject as I am having issues with this at the moment.  I have looked into costumes but unless I make something myself (and there is not enough hours in the day for that) all the ladies stuff is "sexy" and totally unsuitable for a kids party or event.  As for "normal" clothes in bright colours I find that there is lots of colourful stuff out there but either it is not designed for a slightly larger lady or it will make me look like I have just walked in off the street and decided to give twisting a go.  I would love to hear what the other ladies wear whilst working as I am struggling.

If I am doing a face painting party (with or without twisting) I tend to wear a black polo shirt and coloured trousers.  Just waiting for my embroidered stuff to arrive at the moment.

I go out as smart as possible, black shoe's, black trousers, white shirt and a colourful waist jacket plus a balloon hat of some sort.
I find this is all I need but would like a jacket most places do clowns jackets but I'm not a clown, I'm clown like, I need it for when I work outside in the winter.
No makeup

For twisting pretty much the same as Dave black trousers and shoes smart shirt and a bright waistcoat, sometimes a balloon hat

I'm not a clown (despite what my day job boss calls me  :D ) but you do need to stand out, I have been toying with the idea of adding a brightly coloured bowler hat and bow tie as well but no make up.

I'll try and post a picture later
C\'mon Let\'s twist again...

We bought waistcoats from the creation station in Califonia - they are a quilting company that got soem balloon fabric and all the twisters found out and got them making various garments and bags, but they stopped making them a few years ago and only have a few left.

When out for the evening events or posher doos we wear black smart trousers (can also be evening trousers/suit depending on event) with a white shirt/blouse and our black balloon print waiscoats (paul also wears matching dickie bow).

We are also very adamant that we are not clowns (despite what others say - some say Paul is one just in disguise!!) When we started twisting they expected us to wear similar clothes and so we have various costumes for day wear:

From the creation station we have red balloon print tousers and waiscoats (with matching bow tie for Paul) and matching holdalls for the extra balloons:

We also have had made by a local fancy dress company for day wear and parties:-

Red trouser suits with balloon material patch pockets on both trousers and jacket (and lapels) with front patterned waiscoat:

sort of posh green colour (probably tealish shade) suits as above
purple suits as above
Blue as above (but now too small)

We also have a variety of fancy dress costumes, we wear if requested, especially Christmas Time.

I keep promising myself our next costumes will be made by Heidi at Watford but have not got to making the appointment and seeing her yet, her standard of clothes is excellent.

You can never have enough outfits!!!!!!!!
I normally wear a t-shirt advertisting the business but I also have a pirate hat and coat which is meant to be a sexy lady pirate, but quite frankly, the dress which was supplied as part of the outfit I could barely fit into as a t'shirt but the jacket has a great cut so it does not interfere with my balloon apron.
I also have clown trousers which I got on ebay for £2.50 including postage. Cannot understand who no-one else wanted them.
So basically, I have lots of outfits and will just wear what I am in the mood for. Its great we can wear what we like and get away with it!
You can indulge your inner child and its tax deductible!
Release your silly side Yvonne and have fun with it!

Right I am getting there.  I am designing a logo (see other thread) and once it is sorted shall get it embroidered on 2 yellow polo shirts, a fleece and a zippered hooded sweatshirt.  To team up with this I have various trousers in red or blue and have just ordered 2 pairs of these:-

I have also just bought this:-
Pirate Outfit.jpg[/attachment:2j7v2381]

Which I figure I can get some boot covers and some black leggings and use when it is an event suitable for dressing up and offer it as an option for parties.  I have found a couple of other costumes that would be suitable but finances will not allow more than one fancy dress costume this month  ;)

Hi Yvonne, sexy pirate it is then!
Regretfully, I have found when you are wearing a fully loaded apron with the outfit, you can look a little heavy but hey-ho!
Just surf ebay and pick up bargains as and when over time.
Good to see you are having fun.
Ali.

Hi y'all!  New to the forum & this is actually my first post.  So I hope I can get the pictures up right...

Anyway, I have 3 different characters - 2 clowns & 1 entertainer.  Both my clowns - Harmony & Melody - wear the same outfit.  The difference is hair & makeup.  Harmony wear a wig & has a big red nose, Melody has a simpler face & uses bright colored braids in her hair.  My entertainer character - Ida Twister - wears the same bright green shirt as the clowns but wears pants with it instead of the clown dress.  She does her hair similar to Melody with the bright braids.  Sometimes Ida wears make-up & sometimes not, it just depends on where she's going & what day it is.

My husband is also a clown & entertainer.  He has 2 different outfits.  For his entertainer, he wears a green (used to wear blue) shirt with a rainbow stripped vest & either black or khaki pants or shorts, depending on the event.

**I can't get the pics to work.  Until I figure it out, you can check out my MySpace page & see Harmony, Melody, Ida & friends: //http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=82416582&albumId=1828810

Hmmm... I know it's been a long while since I posted but something like this topic always gets my interest up! haha
I have a few different costumes I enjoy twisting in! They include; Rainbow Brite (own version of costume), Luchia Nanami (a mermaid princess in human form from a Japanese Anime 'Mermaid Melody') and there is one that I am yet to wear. I just completed a year-long course in wearable art and fashion design. Our 2nd major assigment was a garment design, where we created the design from another student in the class. I designed a rainbow inspired dress which was brought to life by a fellow student. The design evolved along the way and I'm proud to say there is no dress quite like it! I will actually be wearing it for the first time tomorrow.

Anyway that's probably enough from me. I hope I'm not in the wrong by posting in a 'May 09' topic... Sorry if I am!

Lastly here is a picture of me in a shirt that I created the design of, and then screenprinted. It is based on the mermaid design that I love to do! :D
