The winner of the prize draw for August was John Wolstenholme, John is organising a juggling convention in Durham for October.
More details, http://www.durhamcityjugglers.co.uk/dur ... onvention/

John damaged his finger by cutting the top off with a circular saw, the prize was yearly membership to The Balloon Artists Guild but John asked for some raffle prizes for the convention and I'm happy to help out where we can. Hope it all goes well John.

John sent over a few words about the convention,

Hi Graham

I attach a pic of me with my prize. Most jugglers know me as 'Dr John'. I am Chairman of Durham City Jugglers. I don't actually do a huge amount of balloons - more of a sideline. I quite often end up doing some for weddings and other family and charity events and they went down a treat in Plakias in southern Crete on holiday earlier in the summer. I already have a provisional booking in Plakias for next year.

I plan to use the prize as one of the raffle prizes at the Durham Juggling and Circus Festival in October. This is a great weekend Convention, now run between Durham City Jugglers, Juggling and Unicycling Stockton on Tees, Circus Central in Newcastle and the Five Ring Circus. It is, I think, the longest running without a break convention in the UK. I will make sure that you get a mention, indeed you would be very welcome to attend, although I appreciate that it is a bit of a trek up here. We don't actually charge our current traders, as the ones that come are all old friends. We just ask them to pay the very modest Reg charge and donate a raffle prize (or more) in proportion to what they sell. Apart from co-ordinating the entire event, my main job is running 'The Famous Dr John's Bar' at the Saturday night show. Not sure if it is me or the bar that is 'famous', possibly neither.

The poorly finger in the photo is the result of me celebrating 50 years of using power tools without incident, by sticking it in a circular saw. It will make tying off balloons a bit difficult for a couple of weeks!
