I've found more photo's while sorting out all my files, hope you can follow along. The gun will fire and make a sound by putting a twist in the handle, the tighter the handle the louder the firing noise will be.

With this gun the excess on the handle was taken off. When I make this gun now I would go back and forth again so that the barrel of the gun had five bubbles instead of the three as in these pictures. If the handle is on the soft side and the firing noise not vey loud just twist the handle a few times around the pinch twist.
To get the gun to fire put a twist in the handle and hold the gun firmly, slightly release your grip and the twist will unfold, the quicker it unfolds, the louder the noise will be.

SNAP!   I had to laugh at this, being challenged at the New Zealand Conference to make a gun that makes a bang, I used the same essential handle concept, but my gun was nowhere as well made, and it was pink!

I've found by making the 'firing' handle from a scrap, you can replace it much easier with another if (and when with a lot of use) the handle pops.

Doesn't make mine look any better, but you could almost pretend the newn handle is a new magazine...

BTW, as a rule, I don't make realistic guns, but when asked at a balloon conference, it seemed ok to bend the rules, and it wasn't very realistic anyway... :D

Mine does not fire actually, but I make a sort of modified "Super soaker" (Water gun) that another twister showed me. It is pretty easy.  I will work up a Tutorial for it, but children seem to like it.  Usually I bill it as a "Space Ray gun with a Nuclear power accelerator coil!" or something equally dire sounding.  and the boys say "Oh COOL!"  I sometimes carry a small squirt gun with me on a really warm day, and as I hand the piece to the child, I will give him a shot or two and say, "Oh!  I forgot it was loaded!  Be careful with that!"

I just like making outrageous things!  The kids don't really car as long as it is fun, and it really seems to have not offended anyone.  Even the really anti firearm people.
