I was a secondary school teacher, teaching languages when my life took an unexpected twist at my son's 3rd birthday party and daughter's christening when I saw a balloon artist in action.

After 10 years in teaching I was quite disillusioned and wanted to spend more time with the kids. Harriet was only six months old and Toby was two, and I loved the idea of being a stay-at-home dad, as well as saving us the child care costs - so I went for it!!

After watching the balloon artist I decided to give it a go. I bought some balloons and pored over video tutorials and spent a lot of time practicing. I didn't realise how hard it was going to be or how tough it was to actually blow the balloons up but I persevered!.

To be honest, I'm living the dream! People say to me, 'don't you get bored being at home?' No, my children mean everything to me and if I can help bring them up giving them more time, surely that's worth more than any job!
Obviously, being a full time dad is my main 'job' but being able to do the balloons gives me a purpose and independence as well as a lot of fun!
