Until recently I had an 0800 number to promote myself as a balloon twister and children's entertainer. I now have an 0845 number as I feel that if people wish to hire me then they will do. And besides an 0845 is usually free to call from a BT landline, as are UK local numbers.

I find local people want to ring a local number and as my entertainment is offered locally its best to have a local number

and they too are free from most bt landlines to call with todays packages

Pam,

I agree a local number is better. I had an 0800 number years ago and I would get calls from all over the UK. Now with only my local number I get a high percentage of suitable jobs. Most people get free calls anyway either from their landline or bundled with their mobile tariff so free calls are not as essential as they used to be.
