Hi everyone, i am Jake and I havent posted in here for a while because of the busy school term (i am only 13)

I have been running a balloon twisting and magic business in Australia for just over a year, and average about one event every fortnight (which i think is quite good :) ) i recently did an event for a fundraising group run by children (and their parents) that is raising money to go to cambodia. They really enjoyed the magic and balloons and they want me back in a couple of weeks

But this time they would like me to teach a few magic tricks and balloons, in a time frame of 90 minutes.

I remember watching a video of someone ( i think it was flowerclown) who wasat a party teaching the children balloons, and at the end they all got to make a crazy hat out of up to 5 or so balloons. I think this will be a good way to end it, but i still need  two magic tricks and maybe one or two more balloons.

What are some (very) simple magic tricks that use stuff around the home that i could easily teach the kids?

Any tips for teaching the kids the balloons? i think i will keep having to remind myself they are only 9 years old and have never twisted before!!

Thanks in advance,

Jake

Great that you are doing so well.
I teach and have also taught some of my children how to make balloons. I have found that kids as young as 7 can make dogs fairly easily and after one or two demonstrations can just about get it. They are also not afraid. As long as you tell them which end to sart at and give them a selection of pre blown up balloons they will have a great bash. Hats, swords, dogs.
Also, grown ups may pretend they don't want to have a go, but I am yet to one across one where this applies.
My advice - have loads of balloons prepared and blown up and teach a few basics then let them loose. You can help along the way.
Have fun
Kindest Regards

Thanks for the very helpful reply (it was a fast reply too!!!! :) )

I think letting them loose and then just going round to help them as they do it would be lots of fun

I like your line about "I must remind myself they are only 9" after you telling us you are 13  :D  Made me smile.
I would think a few 9 year olds will be OK to tie a knot, you could even perhaps show them the 4 petal windmill that some call a flower.

Hi ya, I only started twisting 2 days ago and have managed to teach my son and my sister (both 9 years old) how to make a dog and both got it within 5 mins. I just showed them from the instructions in the balloon magic books and they picked it up really easily. I think you'll find it a doddle. Good luck :) x

Thanks guys

The magic is what i am looking for now, anyone know anyone tricks that look good, are cheap and can be taught to non-magicians

Hi Jake,  Glad things are going well with your balloon twisting!  Search for Julian's Magician School on You Tube.  He has some wonderful, easy magic tricks on his site.  And I think he is also from Australia!  Good luck!....Suzon
